Re: "Desi" , A very Confusing Word for me
pak-one well linkages are not always based on lineage on paternal or maternal path. I mean it becomes a matter of simple math, whether in rohilla empire specifics or broader subcontinental aspects. It would be one thing if pashtun women never married non pashtuns, I am not sure if that is the case in the broader sense but in the rohilla empire, and even after the end of the empire intermarriages with other muslims were common. While the lineage may be counted only along paternal line, genetics are not really confined to those, maybe that is what people mean?
bloodlines are a funny business, i was reading an interesting study how much of spain still had a very large number of arab genes, and one thinks, wait..so they are christian spaniards, how on earth do they have genetic traits of what were mostly muslim arabs.
Now at the end of the day are all the ppl claiming to be khan, syed, qureshi, ansari, siddiqui, farooqi, osmani really from those backgrounds, I dont know, it seems unlikely.
