Agreed the seats of karachi should increase.The reason karachi doesnt get fair share of seats is because many people who are settled in karachi from other areas and provinces are not registered voters in karachi.they are registered in their home towns and villages.

Yea, you are right. Pakistan should be fair to all.

And please, do not forget the quotas in federal government jobs. At present, quota of Pakhtunkhwa is 11.5 percent. Quota of Tribal and northern areas is 4 percent. Anyhow, since around 23 percent of population from those areas migrated to Karachi, their quota in federal government jobs should reduce too, transferring those quotas to Karachi. For instance, 11.5 percent quota of Pakhtunkhwa should get reduced to 9 percent and 4 percent quota of Northern and tribal areas should get reduced to 3 percent. On the other hand, those job quotas, around 3.5 percent that goes to Pakhtunkhwa, tribal and northern areas, should get transferred to people holding Karachi domicile and educated Karachiets should benefit from those transferred quota jobs.

Well, similarly a portion of quota from Punjab should get transferred to Karachi too, depending on population of Punjab migrating to Karachi. I think if that would happen, Karachi might gain another 3 to 4 percent federal job quota transferred from Punjab to karachi, whereas Punjab would lose that much of their federal job quota.

I am sure such fair move in Pakistan would be appreciated by Karachiets, as if that would happen, it would be a nice music to the ears of Karachiets educated as they would gain around 7 to 8 percent quota in federal jobs at the expense of Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Northern areas and Tribal areas.

LOL Sa1eem. You are making a lot of people very uncomfortable. They don’t want to talk about the number of people (not just Pushto speaking but also Punjabi, Sindhi and Balochi speaking) that live in Karachi but claim domicile of other areas. They want the NFC and other funds for those areas, government jobs etc for those areas, not for Karachi. Adjusting seats and jobs for Karachi for the number of people actually living in Karachi will cause too much trouble for the people taking advantage of this system.

hmm … well, being fair is fair and no one should complain, as that would be according to population gain of Karachi and population loss of Pakhtunkhaw, Punjab, and Northern plus Tribal areas to Karachi.

You are right that such talk might cause lot of commotion amongst wishful dreamers hoping to colonise Karachi, but then it is surprising that such voice is not getting raised by educated karachiets who would gain most from such move. Let hope what I mentioned above becomes future demands of Karachiets and their political representative MQM, as both would gain most from such moves once implemented, as what they would be asking for is their rightful right.
