my wedding was due in Dec 2007 i brought the lehnga n all, but due to certain reasons it was delayed(now to b held in jan 2010), short shirts were in fashion at that time n all my kam wala joras hav really short shirts they r really expensive too, now long shirts are in. What to do? 
n even the lehnga i ordered has a really short shirt.. n the design is common now

You can update your clothes by modifying one piece from each outfit. Like either shirt, dupatta or lehnga/shalwar/pants.
I would ditch the short shirts and get new longer and lighter ones made.

cut the kaam off the short shirts and attach it onto long shorts...borders are really in as are contrats or use it on a dupartta or use it on the neck!
I have done that with loads of my old clothes!

yes long shirts are in fashion but i see many models and in media ppl still wearing short shirts ..so i feel they are not totallay out of fashion...
u can still wear them if they r not toooo short...
or wait may b by june 2010 short shirts came in fashion again...:)

^Do that or just wait. Long shirts can't stay "in" forever.
Silk patti extended like 2 inches are in even in formal dresses. it might help u to increase length keeping all kaam n style intact.

in the future make sure heavy kaam waale joras are made at in in-btwn length(knee length) cuz that's never out of style as far as i'm concerned and you don't have to worry about whether the fashion is long kameezan or short..

well thats what my mom used to say..i shud hav listened to her 
besides, what others suggessted, i'd also consider this for some of them... take some of the shirts back to the kaam wala and ask them to add inches of the same or similar/contrasting fabric underneath and cover the "jorr" with kaam and/or extend the kaam all the way down.
but i'd wait till nov/dec of this year to do all this...just to see what the latest fashion trends are. i'd also keep some of them knee-length.

seriously....stick to what YOU like...not what the fashion is....because in a year or two, you'll be looking back at your pictures thinking: "what the heck was i thinking wearing THAT?"...or "I can't believer I wore that fashion...what am I, paindu?"....be comfortable in what you wear and just love it.
A woman could wear the the ugliest outfit, but the WAY she wears it pulls it off.
fashion comes and goes...especially pakistani fashion....they recycle everything after every 3 years or so....how much can one do and be creative with shalwar kameez? u either go long or short.
and besides, if anyone does say: "thats old fashion!"...just tell them.."um no....its the Spring '10 collection"..and most likely it probably will be. or if that doesnt work, tell them its "vintage".

I have seen girls wear a sheer chiffon long jacket (front-open) over short kameez'es.
U can add lace to the "daaman" too.

today i did what someone suggested about putting a silk patti on the bottom of the shirt.
It was easy and looked good! and made the kameez look totally new!

i'll hav to settle for the short shrt for lehngan n the design also (i guess i'll let the dupatta cover my shrt)...can't get a new 1...i just hope i look good on my wedding.
