Defrosting meat and such

What is process for defrosting meat/chcken?

Can you leave it out in water?

just defrost in the microwave... easy and quick n' always on time!

Re: Defrosting meat and such

watever u doo dont defrost it in hot water, u can leave it to defrost in cold water

Re: Defrosting meat and such

Leave it overnight in the fridge section , that is the best way to defrost it . It keeps the texture and color of meat intact. Time to defrost will depend on the quantity of meat. One or two pound gets defrosted over night.

Re: Defrosting meat and such

I see sidra is learning to cook.

lol you don't know how to defrost meat ??? hahah

Re: Defrosting meat and such

Oh, i leave it in the bowl under the hot tap until the bowl fills up then leave it for a while till soft. I never had problems. It defrosts quickly, less time for germs to multiply.

Re: Defrosting meat and such

There is a machine you can put frozen food along with fresh food, All cooks at same time.

Everybody has to start somewehre

Sidra, I usually leave it in a pot of water to defrost (w./ the plastic still on it). so far no complaints.

Re: Defrosting meat and such

No, I am just not learning to cook.

I am not liking the taste of red meat..I was thinking maybe it was the way it was being defrosted (left in the water to defrost). Guess i just hate the taste after all.

Don't worry, cook for me.

Ooops.......why what happens if you defrost it in hot water?

Re: Defrosting meat and such

it cooks.
remember we cook food in heat.

i put my meat packet in a bowl and add the hottest tap water available and change the water every 5-7 minutes or so. obviously each time the meat comes closer to the room temp, the water in the bowl gets cooler too.

ive done this for years, no problems, and meat defrosts in 15 - 20 mins max, or even less!

In my family, they take the meat packet out at night if you gotta cook it the next day. If you need to cook it at night, then take it out the first thing in the morning and let it thaw. It should be ready by the time you need to cook it. EASY!

Also, I've tried that microwave defrost thing a couple of times when I needed meat immediately and had forgot to pull it out before, it just tasted crap. Meat turns white, specially if it's chicken, and is left with very little taste. No need to mention, it smells awful.

Have u tried leaving it in the fridge to thaw naturally (w/o water)? i read in another thread that's usually th best way (slowly)..:

Instead of keeping out for that long hours, keep it in the fridge...that is better
