How do Musharaf and Altaf fit the bill of being Fascists? They never imposed any liberal policies? Nothing changed under Musharaf, other then reform of a few Laws that were clearly UnIslamic. In most other cases, Musharaf caved to relgious pressure groups. For instance, the whole passport issue, where we apparently had passports without stating a persons religion etc.
Even the one time Musharaf did stand up to religious fanatics was during the Red Mosque debacle, and that to, only after months of the those students playing vigilante.
Essentially, these people you claim are liberal, are only liberal in their personal lives. In Pakistani politics, everyone is a conservative regardless of their personal oppinions.
