If the religious right had their way, all women would be in burqas, men would be whipped for not praying, no tv, no cinema, no art or culture.

Things like banning alcohol or declaring ahmedis non-muslims are what the majority of Pakistanis feel it should be. You cant consider these demands of a small minority of religious right.

I dont think so. The banning of Alcohol and declarinf of Ahmadis as non Muslims were instigated by relgious conservatives. Infact, most rulings of this nature were at the behest of relgious conservatives.

If the people supposedly supported these things, its because the majority of Pakistanis are right wingers. Liberals would never have allowed this if they had ever had any say. Infact, today we would be a secular progressive country if it werent for the right.

Regaradless, you said that Liberals in Pakistan also impose themselves and their ideas. Where in Pakistan history do you find liberal imposing their views? The only person who was a Liberal, and actually spoke as a Liberal, with liberal progressive policies, was Mohammad Ali Jinnah. And even his liberal ideology was trashed by the new Conservative right in Pak.
