Even words are different like
In states they say rest rooms and in london they call it toilet .
There are so many words like this.
Good post, but you are so wrong (as for the indication they are headed home)... Most of them are are already working elsewhere, with 'fatter' paychecks my friend!
That was a joke Spock, based on the current financial crisis. I know personally know of people from NY moving out to greener pastures, Dubai mostly but also London (which will be hit soon) or other places in the middle east.
Umm I am an ABCD but i HATE peanut butter!!! ......test failed. How about using "Sushi" as a test. Or even better yet, ask them to pronounce the word "Schedule"... if they pronounce it "Skedjjewllll"...then almost a proper ABCD...BUT if he/she says "Shedeooule"......then its a FOB alert
Sorry if i offended anyone :)
LOL haha I have a good one......Fobs cannot differenciate between "V" and "W" Example if they try saying what they'll really say "Vat" wow would be "VOW" and Valentines would "walentines" to them and if u try to tell them ur pronouncing it wrong they wont be able to figure out why.
GEEZ ppl ,Ya all need to take intercultural courses.

uh oh, thats not true either... Thats a linguistics thing, primarily because of the fact that there is only one letter in the Urdu alphabet that resembles both v and w. Alot of kids born here, to desi parents (who communicate in Urdu around the house with each other and siblings) tend to do that too. Infact I remember mamaof3 saying one of her kids (born and raised here) does that too...
on to the next one!
Re: Define Fob
That’s true, cause if you hear your parents say stuff like Close the Light, Close the tv etc you just repeat it untill you say it to someone in school and they dont’ get what you are talking about…
Check out this video where ABCD’s pretend to be FOBS and make fun of them. They also make fun of themselves with their many stereo types

hmmm you could be right...but may be he does that cuz he's still a kid. I've never seen anyone through out my schooling raised here mixing up the Vs and the Ws. Anyone who went to school here if not KG even elementary school knows their Vs and Ws. But I could be wrong cuz what I just wrote is based on my experience. :)

There are those that goto good schools where English is taught as a first language in Pakistan dont mix 'em up either... It depends.. Linguistics, especially in the early part of life is a very complicated thing.
^ yea ur right...it really does depend.
My cousin went to Aitchison College in Lahore. And from what I hear that's a really good school in pakistan. He came here for uni and it was so funny I literally had to show him how to pronounce the V and the W cuz he wanted to know the difference lol I told him to pay attention to my mouth movement and see how when i say V my teeth touch my lips and when i say "w" (like what..why..when) my teeth dont touch my lips.... And he's been getting it right since then lol
Re: Define Fob
Mav, alot of skilled teachers, especially the ones that are trained abroad, tend to catch that amongst their students in kindergarten. Aitechson is good only for higher education (right before entering college), but I wouldn't say its the best school for starters. They pay more emphasis on discipline.
^ hmm Maybe ur right cuz he did start in Grade 8 and so he probably picked up his Vs and Ws when he was much younger
and i dont think mixing up ur Vs and Ws makes u any less than anybody else.
P.S it just puts u in the fobs category hehe (k i'm only kidding)
Re: Define Fob
one thing you all forgot, genuine fobs emit desi radiation aka bo...
Re: Define Fob
Yeah Yeah, rofl lol lmao. Take an ABCD to Pakistan, and watch them pronounce words. Then ROFL LOL and LMAO.
