some people are amazing, they always have their guards up. You open your mouth in front of them and before you even complete your sentence, their defense guard is up and they are in totally defensive mod ..
They just assume that you are criticizing them ..

I think they get their gaurds up instantly because they r too aware of their faults Maybe b/c they are too frustrated with their ownself that they just can’t take a friendly criticism from anyone

they obviously have their guard up for a reason, look at what areas they are defensive about and try to understand why that might be. maybe everytime they went to do something they got knocked back or belittled. Maybe they feel they need to defend their actions and/or opinions for a reason. It probably is a form of insecurity but maybe they feel they don't have any other option but to go on the defensive.
