December wedding considerations...

I’m having a December wedding and am really nervous since I’m abroad! I have a friend who is getting married in July and just went to Pakistan now…thats about 6 months in advance. Could I go around May or June, or do you think I need more time since the wedding is during peak shaadi season? I’m looking at Umar Sayeed, Rehana Saigol, Haroon and Sana Safinaz so I’m not sure if they need as much time in advance. I have a feeling that Umar Sayeed doesnt, but I’m not sure
about the others. The earliest I can go is March but I would only have two weeks to do everything then…

If anyone has anyone experience with Rehana Saigol or Haroon bridals as well, pm me

Re: December wedding considerations...

hey fasaadi u should come by march order and see for urself what u have available in the market. sana safinaz, umer sayeed, nomi aqnsari, maheen karim, najia , afsheen leghari there are loads and loads.
have only seen one of haroons outfit and its okay.

rehana saigol is okay she gets stuff from india mostly but since ure coming u can check em out , shaddi is the one time when u want everything to go perfect

i wont be able to go in march because I would only have a few days...i think its better for me to go when I have more time. Umar Sayeed said its fine to come in whenever, but I dont have Sana Safinaz's contact info. Does anyone have their number? I hope May wont be too late....:(

Re: December wedding considerations...

I went to sana safinaz in may for a bridal i wanted done in august of the same yr. they said they absolutely cant do it and wont take the order. i hope u find someone like that when u go there, someone whos upfront and honest instead of someone that takes the order and puts u thru hell.

i doubt sana safinaz will do it if u place the order in june since december is wedding-mania month in pakistan. but no harm in asking. call them all soon and ask them whens the latest u can place an order with them by since ideally u would like to be in person instead of doing it over the phone. good luck!

Re: December wedding considerations...

yep! pretty much agree with sumorani..
but should b ok, as from may to dec there's plenty of time but its just that dec is the wedding month..due to muahharram it might not b this yr.. the main week when we all have holidys is fallin durin muhharram so either wedding's b held before that or after..

thanks for your advice sumorani and shona09! and thanks a TON for the number mahismart...i had a number from a magazine for SS, but it looks like one of the numbers was wrong.

I really hope youre right shona! i guess i* could* go in march, but its just that i would just be able to do everything at once if i went in may, and i bet i'd only have time to get my wedding outfit if i just go for 2 weeks in march.

My list of designers to see are Umar Sayeed, Sana Safinaz, Nickie Nina (i saw a gorgeous pink and blue pic posted in the bridal section that i liked), Rehana Saigol, Nomi Ansari and Karma. I know Rehana Saigol gets her stuff from India, but its really pretty...and i bet it means she cant easily reproduce each outfit, what do you guys think? I doubt she buys fifty of each...

I'm iffy on Umar Sayeed cause Ive only seen like 2 or 3 outfits done by him, and they were....eh. Ive heard he's the best of the best, but i just havent seen much to prove that.

Re: December wedding considerations...

i like HSY too.. his collection is nice. planning to visit him>? two weeks sounds such a short time. If u'll b goin in may for how long will u in pak?

yeah i guess i could see hsy, but im not crazy about him. i guess if i have extra time :)

im not entirely sure yet, probably at least a month?

Re: December wedding considerations...

Fasaadi I know girls who've done wedding shopping in 2 weeks...with help from relatives in Pakistan. Plan your days really well, book appointments with designers while you are here, follow-uo to confirm once you land, and don't waste any part of the day. Know what you want to accomplish each day and spend time in areas where you know you will find what yu need. Also, I found that making daily trips to the tailor reduces the load on you. Plus, if he has any questions regarding previous orders, he can do that too.

Re: December wedding considerations...

how about mehdi and fahad Hussain?

i actually love mehdi and fahad hussayn but i dont think they have outlets in khi, do they??

yeah youre right naqsa...i first need to find out whether the designers will allow me to visit in may instead, if not, i need to get a visa, and mid march is not too far away! how far in advance do you need to book an appt? like if i call a designer, do you think they have dates available for next month or would i have had to call in january to get march appts? that would be horrible if they didnt have appts available in march...

i'd say def go in may then u'll have a lot of time, and u'll enjoy ur wedding shopping..... either ways it'll b hectic but 2weeks sounds short.. my cousin last yr did her shoppin in 7days,she was busy with work n all so only got a week off..

Re: December wedding considerations...

u can come in may but remmebr whtaever designer u want yr outfit from call them now and say u want an appointment in may since u will be coming to pakiland then. and u want th eoutfit to be for dec wedding. they will tell u right then on the phone if they can take ur order for dec or no.

i agree with naqsa u justhave to plan yr days well :)

Re: December wedding considerations...

fasaadi, are you all set for your trip?

Bunto is completely booked.. and Umar Sayeed takes a lot of time for bridals :S Rehana Saigol's husband launched his formal-wear line as well called "Chand"

Have pictures of the stuff u like mailed and get the quotes.. u can begin u're preps even if u're not in Khi.

Re: December wedding considerations...

dear fassadi,
well when we talk about such designers,we should keep in mind thier nukhras as well.i personlly think that there are so many other desingers who are as good as they are and even better than them and more economical as well,we got all the true information by our experiences.i wish you all the best and hope that everything work out for you.
We got our complete arrangements done and decorated by www shaadiarrangements.com the website owned by zoreed raza and we were more than happy for what she did for us .she has aslo a list of designers and complete advisory services.if u need to know anything they are there for you.

Re: December wedding considerations...

my wedding was in December and the lengha was ordered in advance--Karma had the jora done and ready in 4 months.....(I know you are not looking into Karma for bridals but maybe a trousseu consideration).

As for Bunto, she needs more than 8 months--even for a mehndi/trousseu outfit....

@ mahismart and sozankaar...yup! done and done :) ive booked appts already as well :)

thats good advice Gina, I've already started doing that too! But I guess its not so easy with all designers, Nomi Ansari is good about putting up his designs on Facebook so that you can email him and ask for prices, but for example, how would you know what a SS bridal is like without going?

Thats really helpful BlushingRose...i might consider Karma for the nikkah actually, but I dont know what their price range is? any tips? I know they have newer designs than whats available on the website. Maybe I should call for an appointment...

Re: December wedding considerations...

^^^Karma prices are from 1.5 lakh to 4-ish....and negotiable:)
