dont they owe you the answer to that?

Re: Death Threats
if u get stonewalled by this detective or the precinct, u can try and play the race card (your hubby's, not yours) and make it a hate crime issue.. that way the FBI would have to get involved.. and maybe that could turn up something the locals aren't interested in finding out.
P.S. why not get a 9mm or something more wieldy.
Re: Death Threats
Hey Mamaof3 not trying to sound mean but can you just confirm once again for me that all you've said above is true?
Re: Death Threats
yes mr retro, all I have said has happened,. nothing have I embellished or exaggerated. I dont understand why you need to be assured of this but I've never lied here on this forum nor have I exaggerated.....
Re: Death Threats
^^ :gulp: good luck for you then.. insha’allah nothing bad will happen pray and have hope.. a gori looking out on the porch with a gun > that will help set the scenario
i personally like the way you are very interactive and open-minded with your affairs.. if it was some outright desi she might’ve been crying as if there was no tomorrow
Re: Death Threats
Not exactly same but smiler thing happened to us and i pressed for charges but after knowing that the guy has long "DRUG" related history and he know our address too. One day he showed up at my door to say "sorry" and to get a "forgiveness" note that can bail him out. I was not home and my wife was alone with kids. We then decided not to press charges and we moved out of our residence.
Call me looser or coward but i have 2 kids and a wife who stay alone for at least 10 hours a day and I don't want to get medal of bravery at their cost.
So Mamaof3, check out the background of that guy and then decide whats best for your family.
Re: Death Threats
I would have done the same thing....
It's worrisome that the detectives won't give you more info....
Stay safe okay?!
Re: Death Threats
heya, its all been said here already mama, but good luck, and be safe! and i think it might be best to keep your kids' teachers/principal aware of the situation so they know how to respond in case anything happens, God forbid.
Re: Death Threats
Mamaof3, I hope you all stay safe and fine. But, somehow, I get this feeling that this incidence has brought the adrenaline rush you haven't felt for a long time.

InshaAllah everything will be okay.
Re: Death Threats
Rah man thats so awful. U did the right thing. I forgot in the states ur allowed to have a gun.
Re: Death Threats
missing nephew....same age as one of your kids.....
how does a drunk get your unlisted phone number and name right?
there's pre-meditation here.
I'm not satisfied with the response from the detective nor should you be....dig deeper.
Re: Death Threats
i think Muzna is right.!
I wouldn,t let this go easily..!
Re: Death Threats
mama, try finding out if he has any mental issues, because any sane person who wants to kill you won't warn you of it first, most likely he's very upset and wants to upset others, weird coping mechanism or something. Dont worry too much but take it seriously though, & like someone said before, get a handgun that holds multiple rounds (17 or more), forget the 9mm though, you want it to be effective first hit, .44/.45, preferably a glock...reliable..........oh yeah, & get one of those metal boxes secured to the floor too keep it safe from the kids. your'll be alright, just stay sharp.
Re: Death Threats
You know, I am known for being over-protective and all that...yet I feel so uneasy about this whole thing. The detective called us back, he actually felt sorry for the poor drunken guy. He said that the guy DOES have this missing cousin and his phone number is somewhat similar to ours so it indeed may have been a drunken misdial. But he KNEW our NAME...thats the thing. The caller's name is in no way similar to ours. The detective kept saying that well, it was the middle of the night, your husband may have stated his name (NOT likely). Anyway, the detective recommended that we do not, at this time, press any charges so we didnt. But at least I have the guys last name now, his phone number and the town that he lives in...and my sisters hubby is a NYC cop, a lieutenant. So I think we'll take it privately from here and enlist his help. I am just so very creeped out about the whole thing.
ps We DO have a shotgun that I reviewed with my hubby after this. A handgun is out of the question because my boys would just be crazed with wanting to play with it. They dont have the ability to handle the shotgun (yet!) so thats what we have for now. Along with the 2 pretty protective doggies.
Re: Death Threats
^^ You have dogs at home, and a SHOTGUN (a good deal of security measures eh).. where do you live? In some of the more cautious states/provinces I suppose the police can also offer you one of their men to guard if you are too freaked out or something..
Re: Death Threats
hehe, the doggies are part of the family. The fact that they are protective and like to scare strangers is just a bonus. The shotgun is something my hubby talked me into and although I was reluctant, I'm ok with it for now, till the boys are a bit older. Anyway, we live in new york in a nice "safe" town, but these days, the only way to assure safety is to take care of your own, yeah? Anyhow, the detective was dismissive about the whole thing here so there goes your theory about the police watching over us.....we;ll watch over OURSELVES.
Re: Death Threats
^^ Doggies are PART of ur family?? Like u have 'em as a pet, thought ur hubby was Pakistani (absolutely NO OFFENCE but I was skeptical about dogs as pets in a Paki household).. anyway pardon if I'm getting off topic
Re: Death Threats
My hubby is quite unique! Yes he's a desi but the dogs are indeed cherished family members as is the kitty. We have the 3 boys who are like Huey, Duey and Louey and the animals who are like Moe Larry and Curly! QUITE the circus we have here lol!

Why did he say not to press charge? because he felt sorry for him? Or will he be better off after, God forbid, that guy does something? What reason was there to not press charges?
I think taking it privately is a good idea, this detective sounds like an idiot.
