Not exactly same but smiler thing happened to us and i pressed for charges but after knowing that the guy has long "DRUG" related history and he know our address too. One day he showed up at my door to say "sorry" and to get a "forgiveness" note that can bail him out. I was not home and my wife was alone with kids. We then decided not to press charges and we moved out of our residence.
Call me looser or coward but i have 2 kids and a wife who stay alone for at least 10 hours a day and I don't want to get medal of bravery at their cost.
