**salaam,

the verdict is in…the ranger who pulled the trigger and killed unarmed Sarfaraz Shah was sentenced to death and the other 6 rangers including one security guard of the park were awarded LIFE sentences.

family of the victim were happy with the decision of the court but were sad.

wow ... I am surprised that the courts managed to finally give a sentence ... I had almost turned to think that judiciary doesnt exist in Pakistan ...

that's the general perception for a good reason as outlined by Brother Pasha but at least i hope it's just a start of new era of justice. let's see when or if the death sentence will be carried out. i hope the jails will be able to hold the other 6 criminals for life.

I hope so too Khalil .. but we thought that judiciary would return to its full might when CJ was restored … Not much happened really … no I am thinking we shouldnt keep our hopes too high :hinna:

Look at the brighter side of the restoration. Who would have taken SUO MOTO notice of such important things as the so very dangerous couple of bottles of spirits Atiqa Odoho managed to sneak in into the country if it were not for the genius of the esteemed CJ?

That said, in this case at least the verdict from the courts was swift and right so that is a good thing.

I pray that justice becomes so swift and so just for all the high profile case. Justice delayed is justice denied.

EXACTLY! i hope the 'appeal process' will be as swift and he be put to death to face FINAL justice from Allah and burnm in hellfire for ever. he deserves it! and the rest of the gang never gets a chance to get paroled or let go by some Zardari et el.

I am kind of sad with this decision. I am not justifying the murder but Rangers are not Peshawar Qatil. This was not even legally a murder, this was an involuntary man slaughter because the intent to kill the person was not there. It does not look like a sentence, it looks more like a revenge.

If I were the judge , I would give the shooter guy 10 years and others 5 years rigorous imprisonment .... And order Pakistan Rangers to pay Deyat for the chap killed ...

Deyat paid to the family would be more beneficial to them in these circumstance ... rather then this life sentence ..

I was contemplating the same thing. Looks like judiciary is making politically motivated decisions. Looking at the video the only thing I see objectionable is that after they shot his legs and he was subdued , they should have jumped to help him and should have called an ambulance immediately instead of letting him die like a mad dog. That is why it can be called manslaughter. I am sure Pakistani criminal code has that kind of distinction.
