@anjaan: Offer compensation? What about 30 years in jail...how would u compensate for that?
If its not a serious crime (that has low punishment, that can be compensated) then death penalty doesn't apply - hence no ponit of talkin about it

I don't look to saudi arabia or the US as role model they are the worst examples to look at. The death penalty is in the islamic shariah and can only be implemented by an islamic state. If in doubt throw it out the death penalty is only implemented when the it is 100% certain the person is guilty of the crime that has death penalty as the judgement.

Worst example: US...maybe but not SA. SA has implemented full shari'a law. I would say that among muslim states: Pakistan has the worst laws (or atleast respect of Law).

Saudi arabia is a monarchy where king makes the laws they do not implement full shariah as popular media trys to portray if they implement full shairah do you think there would be a king (islam does not allow royalty) or US kafir troops launching attacks on Iraq and other countries from there?

You cannot implement one part of islam and ignore the rest of the ideology it will not work and Saudi Arabia is prime example of this.

something is not acceptable when countries like saudi arabia and pakistan call themselves islamic states and they put kalima on there flags we should not be decived or this give us false hopes which is not good for anyone.
there also no excuse not to implment islam fully because prophet(saw) when ruling was revealed he (saw) did not wait he implement immediatly.

well if people feared that much law they would not act badly....
in fact criminals mostly think they won't get caught..so death penalty is not stopping them to act....but it certainly prevent them from doing crime again, once they're executed..they can not harm any more!
i think something interesting for you is whar happened recently in france:
in france edath penalty was banned 25 years ago, so heavy criminals, whom everyone know they are guilty, are sentenced to life jail....
they have no hope to get out of jail in their life....so they became either depressive or very dangerous...
and a few weeks ago, some of those criminals wrote a letter to president jacques chirac to request him for death penalty!!!!!!!!
they think that living in jail til they die is hopeless and they'd rather die!
so i have allways been for death penalty, and this comfort me in it....serious crimes, with serious guilt proof should result in execution, soon, it is not human to let a criminal rotten in jail many years before execution....
and beheading is quick, and efficient!

Yes it should be there! only and only if you have implemented other sharia laws, have provided everyone in state with decent means of living.

i would argue only a death penalty case for murderers and paedophiles......
but then other than that i would say no t to death penalties.
te problem is that the law in most non-western countries is open to corruption. why should the poot suffer under threat of a death penealty and the rich be allowed to bribe themselves out?
lets face it death sentences within pakistan, sadi etc are biased.....so it would be better to just get rid of them....

@Shah : Lets not get into Sharia Laws. There was a v.good program on Geo on implementation of Sharia laws. Lets just say - as always it was just a discussion (with no results) but it didn't look too good for Sharia Law defenders

A Wrong Approach . I agree with what you said but that doesn't mean to eliminate the death penalty, but to improve our judiciary.
