sadly this has happened to me before i was born. story goes something like this... my mom gave birth to a lovely baby girl. it was their 2nd child. they brought her home from the hospitial & everything was fine. Exactly after 3 weeks my mom had a dream, more like a nightmare. She dreamt that ZIA (baby) had died. My mom woke up crying. ZIA was laying next to her perfectly fine. My mom brushed the dream off. The next day my mom wakes up & realized that the baby hadn't cried all night. So my mom touched ZIA face & it was cold. My mom panicked & turned the light on & ZIA lips were blue. Rigor mortis had set in or "stiffness of death". Of course my parents cried there eyes out & became depressed but later they moved on. Reason being is my parents & ZIA never really had any memories. She came, lived for few weeks & ALLAH took her back.
I'm sad now that i'm talking about it. But usually we rarely talk about ZIA. I was born right after her. So i never met her & my other siblings never met her either.
Now on a happy note my parents had 5 kids to make up for their loss. haha...so don't worry. INSHALLAH your friends will move on quicker then you think. & ALLAH will bestow his blessings on them once again & they'll have healthy children. Ameen.
As a friend you can be there for him. Thats all you can do ...lend support. Over the phone seems "distant." I suggest you meet up with him in person.
