Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

Can we blame govt here? during Monsoon season, the sea is not suitable for swimming or for any such activity, why it is necessary for the people to get a dip in otherwise a wild and open waters, where the current are heavy and violent…

Is it necessary that a Danda-Birdar force of Police have to en-circle the sea so no body can go in the water… does people have no civic sense at all??? death toll to date is 39 and it can increase.. why these people have to die specially when death can easily avoided by simply no entering in the waters…

May Allah bless the souls of dead ones (Ameen)

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

This happens every year. Very sad and tragic. Life is so cheap in this country - this to some extent could be easily blamed on our people mentality " musalman maut say nahee darta"!

This particular incident happened due to the holes dug up a few years ago for a project which was later abandoned. The high tide and the seasonal rough sea caught the boys

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

This never happened at Karachi beaches ,
Only once at Gaddani beach of Baluchistan perhaps
People die often at different beaches but one or two
Karachi coast is not a good beach , specially summer is more dangerous .
This happened at Sea View , which is normally not popular for going into water .
Karachites normally go to Hox-bay and Sandspit , Paradise
Even Karachites never go on Eid days to Clifton and Sea view because these days low income Pakhton ,Punjabi and Baluch families come there for some celebration
These places turn into Eid Mela these days

And we do nothing till it becomes a tragedy

It's the peoples fault. Don't know how to swim and can't use common sense to see how strong the water/waves are. Not gvmts fault...this is stupidity of Pakistanis.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

We are stupid because we are uneducated

Corruption , Population problem , Civil rights problem , lack of awareness every thing due to this one reason .

Tragedy in Karachi: Families still waiting on beach for missing relatives

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

Perhaps they should add sea nets and lifeguards like they have in the west.

It could easily be that with the explosion of migration into karachi, people are coming in who have no idea how to behave in karachi. Little bit off topic, but I know someone from punjab who was all 'hero' and stood on street corners while all the firing was going on in karachi in the nineties, but all that phurti bahaduri went kaput when one bullet grazed his arm. Suffice to say, he ran faster than a camel jockey back to punjab after that incident.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

Investment in lifeguards makes total sense. Probably not anywhere in sindh's budget.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

other than people, if the government was NOT at fault then who was? there are power outages and to beat the heat and humidity they head to beaches...it's governments job to put up signs and block the roads leading to the beaches...put life guards, and charge the violaters.

if the government thought they were not responsible why did they issue a warning on a day after the incident[when all the offices were closed for Eid holidays] and back dated to July 27 in order to be exonerated from the their responsibility.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

For once please blame ourselves and not the govt. I saw the news there are clear signs posted warning people to stay away.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

the government does bear 50% of the responsibility because after the incident the rescue operation was late in coming and devoid of any meaningful operation...there was no divers, no floodlights, no rescue plans.

isn't this the government's responsibility?

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

If government do not steal, do not do corruption, do not do nepotism, do not appoint idiots on crucial posts just because they are sons and daughters of people in power, etc … than people would have water, electricity, jobs, accommodation, education, health, and other outlets to enjoy life. Then, no one would risk their life at beaches, especially when sea is rough.

But unfortunately, money people give to government as taxes, large part leaves Pakistan as ‘Bhatta’ to inflate Swiss bank accounts of political leaders, or for buying businesses and properties in UK and other western countries, run by sons of people like Thug Nawaz, enriching politicians in power.

Meanwhile, people are left without electricity, without gas, without entertainment, without hope, without job, without future, without security, without anything that can give them some relief … so what people can do?

People are not living in Raiwand palace (Raiwand) and Rockwood palace (Surrey) where Peacocks to Dears and 1000s of different flowers abound, where 100s of servants serve, and all luxuries are available from money looted from people so that the King, his children and close relatives take pleasure of life and live luxuriously at the expense of the people and country.

For people, their only choice is to go to beaches and bathe in cold water, so that they can get some relief … relief from pain and heat, relief from inflation and misery, relief from frustration and depression … … … and obviously relief from worries of lives that government has given them in abundance as companion. Unfortunately, when sea is rough, beaches are dangerous too, and people lose their life ... giving them escape from the miseries of this world that their crook and corrupt rulers has given them.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

Sorry to say, but we cant blaim authorities. Our people are jahil and take pride in disobeying authorities. There were signs posted, not to enter the sea. People ignored the signs. They met the fate. No one to blame but themselves

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

To extend they are ... but you have to understand that, with 110 degree temperature, no electricity and frustration increasing, people ignore signs and look for any possible comfort they can ... ignoring risks.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

^ I don't think so next government would again be of PMLN. Mark my words.

Re: Death Dance on Karachi Beaches

I think PMLN made big blunder killing TUQ workers. Even if their leaders get away with murder without punishment (what it seems is unlikely) … their killings would surely affect PMLN votes.

TUQ is recognised as Sunni scholar. More than 60 percent Pakistanis are Sunnis. In next election I have feeling that Sunni and Deobandi might split when giving votes to PMLN, and even if a fraction of Sunni abandon PMLN, their chance or winning election would be remote (even in Lahore).
