Spock, that reaction is extreme for sure…but one could surely say “Listen man…smoke really gets to me so could you wait till we get there? I’d appreciate it man.” No decent person could take offense to that.

I dont think you have interacted with ‘our’ kind. Trust me, they wont even take kindly to being asked to take their shoes off.

Telling someone “Hey I’m allergic to smoke” doesnt cut it.

It does, worked for me every time except this one instance. Whether its the truth or not, doesnt matter, how would he know my medical background to ascertain that. And trust me, ALOT of people are allergic to cig smoke.

So the one-time, uncomfortable telling the guy that it gets to you is over and done with and you won’t end up trying to avoid the friend for the rest of your life for fear that he’ll stink up your car yeah? Get it said, keep a friend and never have to worry again.

Actually, I did retain the friendship… Asking him to leave my car out in the freezing cold in the middle of a highway is what would have ended the friendship for sure though.
