One of my Uncles is the type of person who is afraid to speak up and really hesistates on such things. His child was suffering from asthma and always coughing when these regular guests would come. One day he got so fed up that he framed a no-smoking sign! Lol! Sadly, everyone would laugh, ignore it and smoke next to it! Cruel!
Err why didnt’ he do this sooner? He’s the father, and he should have protected his children first and foremost..instead of being afraid and embarrassed. Stupidity.
As stated above, its a matter of common courtesy to ask before lighting up. And dont even bother if there’s an infant or an ill person around. Also dont bother if its in an enclosed area with non-smokers like a car…just dont. It takes a real social idiot to light up without asking first. I have trouble with this, I am a closet smoker and have not been able to give it up but when people find out that i’m a smoker they’re actually shocked. Nasty, nasty habit and one that I pray one day I will be able to give up. Meantime, I am always extemely careful not to light up where it could be considered offensive. And you know I dont have a prob (no one should) telling others, hey I’m a smoker too but we gotta take it outside. Or in inclement weather, smoke by the kitchen fan. Smokers know that its a nasty habit that should stay outside but sadly some try to get away with it thinking that no one will say anything. Speak up!!
You know something i’ve wondered, how hard is it for women to stop smoking when they get pregnant? With all you hear abt how addictive it is, don’t they feel the same physical symptoms of withdrawal when they realize they have to quit?
