How can you say people are not being honest here? You have encountered that type of example where they look for the highest bidder. Here people are just listing traits that a potential partner might have that would lead them to no longer consider them for purposes of marriage. The people you’ve interacted with might not have had the same requirements of religious observance but I know of examples where rishtas have been rejected due to the guys having habits like drinking/clubbing and not observing religious duties, despite the fact that they had good incomes.

And I have come across lots of really amazing guys rejected because although they were naik, shareef, incredibly pious but werent engineers and doctors and did not belong to rich families or were too dark or weren’t Syed’s, pathans and zaat paat. Please just peruse the rishta section of GS, they are asking for heights, zaat paat, education etc. Have you ever come across a Pakistani elite who married his daughter to an incredibly shareef peon? The most incredible thing is everyone I talk to claims to have such lofty piety and morals and yet in our daily lives there is an incredible corruption and baimaani…

We are very large families on both sides and have been involved in the rishta stuff for many nephews for a long time so I do have an idea what is really going on.
