Re: Daytime weddings??

Eidy, I've been to lots of daytime weddings both in America & in England. Its very popular because many times people have jobs & who wants to eat dinner late at night & then be falling asleep in the office the next day? Having a wedding with a lunch or early supper afterwards can be much more relaxing & is done very frequently, particularly if people have a distance to travel to the event. One of the most lovely weddings I attended was a summer wedding held during the afternoon in a garden park on the lake shore (it was in Chicago) - if you have a beautiful setting why not actually let your guests enjoy it? (they can't if its dark at night).

I advise you to do what makes sense for you & your fiance - and why would your mother laugh if you present her with a plan that makes you happy?

nope, i live in new york, weddings in lahore, his family lives in sahiwaal, and hes flying in from australia where he lives. basically its about as complicated as u can get hehe :) im hoping to minimize the hecticness def. and aww thanks for the wishes

to the post above, i also agree that weddings in the day are so much more convenient for people who have to work the next day and almost everyone here in the states works early. plus people often have to drive really far just to get to the wedding . the only thing is i guess the bride will have to wake up reallly early to get herself ready in time.

Re: Daytime weddings??

^ you don't really sleep the night before, so it kind of works out? hehe i was up alll night long before my wedding day. too excited to fall asleep!

Re: Daytime weddings??

I would love a day time wedding but how would you coordinate a day time wedding? How do you get everyone in the shaadi mood in a day time wedding?

Re: Daytime weddings??

^ what do you mean? lol
aren't people usually excited all on their own for the wedding of a close one?

Re: Daytime weddings??

Daytime weddings are quite common in the places in Pakistan where both side of guests live in 2 cities that are 3-4 hours driving distance from each other. That way guests from one side can come in a bus and drive back after 5:00 PM. They work out just fine. Its a matter of convenience.

lol i have heard alot of people say it doesnt feel like a wedding if it is not at night.

Distance is a good point also here in the USA bc most people end up flying everywhere.

Re: Daytime weddings??

^ don't invite those people to yours! :p

Re: Daytime weddings??

I'll be having a day time Wedding InshAllah, in Pakistan...

And i've been to many day time shaadi's.. I don't mind a day time wedding, I always enjoy Weddings whether day time or not ;)

Re: Daytime weddings??

Daytime weddings are very common in the UK. One of the reasons for this is that in the summer months venues get booked up quickly so people are willing to take earlier slots.

I personally prefer daytime weddings as timing is better - you can go to the wedding at midday and be home around 4/5pm as its most likely that the hall have booked another wedding at the 6pm slot. With evening functions things can run late, and esp on a school night this can be very tiring and the night can drag - (for example when you turn up at 7pm and get fed at 10pm!!).

I have 2 friends who had daytime weddings and both of them say how great it was because they were able to enjoy the whole day as opposed to the party starting in the evening. They also had time to go back home and do the rasams after the ceremony, and arrived at their in laws at a reasonable time. Things like photography also ran more smoothly as they weren't limited by lighting for pictures.
