So this thread is not about me because I mean seriously who would post their personal life issues on GS right right? right. But what if you know that the person you are dating is a psychopath? do you run and never look back or do you think you can do a cure for the crazies ?

hahah well at first you think you can help them and bring about a change, but big mistake!!! psychopaths don't change. I say Run, Run Far Far Away!!!!
Re: Dating a psychopath
My dad treats psychopaths so I know they can sometimes change.. In all honesty if I was dating one and thought I loved him I'd send him off for treatment and wait and see what happens..
Re: Dating a psychopath
Run and never look back! If I use the word crazy about my SO it better only be when I say (or wish) that he's crazy about me.
Re: Dating a psychopath
But psychopaths need love too :(

not if they become detrimental to your emotional and physical state of mind.
We have places for psychopaths, it's called an asylum or a psych ward, they will get love and treatment there.
Re: Dating a psychopath
:(
But we are human Deeba. We may give all our best for the first few years of the relationship but eventually we will wear out. And children will have a difficult time too, if there are any.
Re: Dating a psychopath
True.. I just feel sorry for some of them, esp if they've lost the plot due to being abused as a child or something..

yea but they can also be very cunning and manipulative, and smart enough to know when to say what and how to act when, especially when they're in a relationship with someone.
Re: Dating a psychopath
you have to be a psychologist/psychiatrist or something to classy someone else as psychopath.....
Re: Dating a psychopath
Psychopaths don't change. I didn't.

Re: Dating a psychopath
I would go to Faraway Land and live with Shrek and Fiona! ![]()
On a serious note, it all depends on the situation. Is the “patient” curable? How abusive (mentally/physically) is he? Would therapy help? Is he considered dangerousif not attended by doctors or put in an assylum? But most of all, how much do you love him to go through all of that for him?

By treat, do you mean he is a psychiatrist/psychologist? Which one? I wonder if there are any drugs out there to cut down on their anti-social symptoms, or the kind of psychotherapy used for them... Hmmm.
Re: Dating a psychopath
^Psychiatrist.. There are drugs that can control their symptoms but then again the person has to make sure they do actually carry on taking their medication and/or therapy as long as they need it..
A psychologist usually deals with more minor problems as they aren't qualified to prescribe drugs..
