…are something I’d LOVE to pull off, but doubt would suit me. I’ve tried them once for my friend’s engagement party and and I’m still not sure whether it was something which looks a bit outdated.
I don’t really have full lips either so I’m conscious of wearing dark/bright colours too, as it tends to make my face look older and my lips look a little smaller.
So, any examples of asians pulling off dark lips? Would you recommend wearing dark lippies in this day and age?
It's probably the hijab making you look older with red lips. With hair, it looks super hot!! Also are you going in the direction of RED lips or the super dark red with a little brownish tone to it?
I think it does generally look better on fuller lips.
If you’re going to do it again, I’d wear them with an outfit that you will wear an off-white, nude or even black scarf with. The lips should be the only strong colour.
I feel like it only looks “outdated” because of the hijab? otherwise it would look fine. But I think you should go a little more brighter.
Some other shades, I kinda like. But I have never tried them on, so donno how they would look on me. The super dark one may not look all that good outside of a magazine page
Oh god it looks awful in the first pic. I think I should maybe just stick to brighter reds then (not scarlet but like, blood red) rather than anything too dark. It DOES remind me of the 90s too (esp cos my older sister used to wear it a lot in the 80s and 90s :( )
try a bright red lipgloss instead - that's what I use since I can't wear red either.

Yeah red lipgloss is an easy option, only thing is I don't tend to wear lipgloss these days cos it just ends up feeling sticky or coming off. At least lipstick I can put a coat of lipcote on there if I have to and it'll stay on longer - plus red lipsticks tend to last longer on me anyways
I kind of agree that dark colors look better on full lips. Otherwise, you end up emphasising the thinness of your lips with darker shades. I am willing to change my opinion though, given how she is pulling it…but does she really have thin lips?
