Brother, Muharram is not festival nor one should take it as festival. It is day of remembering, self-searching and self-realisation. Muharram has few unfortunate days when people who should be grateful to a person [Prophet (SAW)] massacred his entire descendent within one generation after the death of that person (SAW), and few left were just lucky.

Reaction and action at Karbala, from people claiming to be Muslim (Yazidies in particular and Muslims in general) has no precedent in history of mankind, as mankind were never so unkind to a person and family of that person (SAW), who they claim was their prophet (AS), reformer, and leader. One who took them out of nothing to become world power, and completely changed their lives for better.

Even though Muslims of today are divided on how to digest this event, Yazidies are still present, who try to hit anyone doing remembrance of Prophet (SAW) birth in Rabi-ul-awal or massacred of his grandsons (AS) in Muharram. It is so unfortunate that even today in countries that claims being Muslim, Muslims find themselves unsafe from terrorist army of Yazidies, Takfeeries and Khwarjees.

Today, neither mosques are safe nor mazars, neither Imam-Bargah are safe nor Mahfils.

I understand that it is not a festive festival but a mourning time, thanks for correcting me.
But my point was it should be observed as per beliefs without worrying about security situation. Its a muslim country after all, if muslims cannot observe their religious days in a islamic country with safety then where can they do it.

Since last few days i am seeing shia muslims here beating drums, carrying a flag and collecting chanda from muslims and non muslims alike. Security is the last thing in their mind.
