I don’t know why but recently everytime i load firefox automatically another tab opens up containing stupid ads e.g. casino
The other problem i’m having is that when searching google and clicking on the result links it takes me to some bogus website instead of the actual website.
Do i need to uninstall and re-install mozilla to get rid of the problem? or is it some kinda virus?

the tab u want is "MAIN" ,
group u want is "STARTUP" ,
the line that says: WHEN FIREFOX STARTS: drop down menu u want is SHOW A BLANK PAGE.hit ok, come out, restart firefox, go to TOOLS > OPTIONS (again) and verify that now it shows SHOW A BLANK PAGE.
check these two points, close ALL firefox windows/tabs and restart firefox, repeat your browsing practices and report any changes/noticing here

Another stupid thing it is doing is , it's hyperlinking words for example when writing blogs to stupid websites??

run your spyware. it sounds like you dloaded a toolbar or somethign along those lines that has taken over your homepage and browser.

I had the same problem with searching on google, AVG didn't find anything and when I went back on google the next day, it was all fine.

hmmmm.. how about download a fresh copy of ur browser, use control panel's ADD REMOVE feature to uninstall the browser, restart, and install the browser again ?
if u have something like ABP, you can export your filters and import them after installing browser.

^ that's exactly what i've done and this time i've not downloaded the google toolbar to go with i think this was the root cause of the problem

im a believer in manually going to the sites.. (belive it or not, i dont know how/what rss "feeds" are/work)

Looks like i will have to reformat the drive and start using chrome
