damn it!

I missed an invite to Royal Opera House few years back coz I thought I wouldn’t fit in coz of wearing a scarf on my head.

I think that was stupid.

Now that I don’t cover my head, I don’t get such invites anymore.

aaaaaaaarghghghgh :pullhair:

Re: damn it!

Can I ask why you dont cover ur head anymore?

Re: damn it!

^to be normal again as in my spiritual state. (no offence to any hijabis)

Re: damn it!

where you worried how others perceived you? are you still a religious person? have ur views changed on certain topics? do u feel u fit in better know that u don't have a head scarf? I'm just curious please don't be offended. x

Re: damn it!

what is this topic about? or is there even a topic?

Re: damn it!

:bummer:

Re: damn it!

Its funny actually I want to make friends with the Hijabi's at uni and I get the impression they don't want to know me because of the way I dress.

Re: damn it!

it always reminds me of DCH  :biggthumb: lol.

Re: damn it!

how could you miss that invite
and hareem, even if u wear hijab or no hijab just recite surah Falak and Surah Nas and go every wear. most of the people dont have time to think about your dressing…besides usually aristocrats go to such places.

Re: damn it!

I have become a dj. :D just kidding...yeah I consider myself still fairly religious.

Re: damn it!

DCH?

Re: damn it!

don't mess with me.

Re: damn it!

dil chahta hai :D dnt u remember tht very cute opera scene from it?

Re: damn it!

You shouldn't be shy with hijabis! I wear hijab and the one thing I always get told about hijabis is that they look so stern and judgemental until you talk to them. I only started wearing a scarf a few years ago and its actually harder to wear it than not wear it, cos you feel self-conscious about how you are seen. Most hijabis as a rule that i have met in the past have always been friendly. Try to talk to a few of them (you'd be surprised the topics they'll come out with!) and it is very rare for a sister to have a go at you about the way you speak. Most hijabis I know are pretty much trying to be comfortable with their own dress sense so they won't really judge others.
That isn;t to say that you won't get the odd 'righteous' hijabi, but still, that's rare! Don't be afraid to make friends with them, if you're at uni thats the one place where most people are open-minded!! x

Re: damn it!

ah no…didn’t watch that movie. I never liked that guy Akshay Khanna. :vivo:

Re: damn it!

Okay this may sound a bit hypocritical but when I'm with hijabis I wear duppatta on my head (I always keep a small scarf in my handbag) and when in my area where I live I don't wear it, most people here are white but that's besides the point....I just want to feel the rain, the wind and the sunshine in my head/hair sometimes.

Re: damn it!

u totally should! its a fab movie  there’s aamir, saif, preity too in the movie

p.s akshay khanna is so adorable  how can anyone not like him :nono:.
