@Zero-zero. Unfortunately I have only seen 2 episodes of Meri Zaat so have to catch it on the net soon. All directors have different styles so there's no question of better only of interpretation and how I would choose to tell a story. @fairyno1: I don't mind at all. Appreciate all feedback. I had a great time making all serials and most recently Daam and even if it doesnt do well in the ratings (which I hope it does :) ), it will remain one of my favourites.

I think Faisal comes in 2nd ep. The play is entrenched in reality. It's not depressing but it definitely doesnt have any glamour or masala in it. I think it's one of the few serials focusing on friendship and also a real insight into the different classes that exist in Pakistan. I really do think it's one of Umera's really good serials..but fingers crossed..let's see how it does.
I see when people say its depressing its because a director needs to make her stories more 'palatable' .. dramas are for entertainment after all.
I think you're better than the rest of the directors we have today, but sometimes your plays are too dry. elements like background music, humor, witty dialogues, engaging acting can make even depressing stories interesting to watch.
I personally avoid watching dramas that are touted as realistic because their understanding of reality is limited to negativity...yawn!

how come its strange? this forum is far better than any other signature clustered forums. besides, we (tom, dick and harry) are the real viewers/critics, instead of the critics who all the say is "app mujhay bhut achi lagti hai?" "app ka wo wala serial but zaberdast tha" bla bla bla.
besides, posters over here are pretty genuine, so it is pretty digestible that hotshot pakistani director can be a member of GS.

kher these days, I dont know about pakistani actors but you can follow ever big-small hollywood actor on twitters and also on facebook.
it aint a big deal any more..you know interestingly they are human like us.
ps. btw, the posts posted by mehreen1 aren't that long or through written posts. they are simple liners that might cost any celebrity or his/her assistant not more than few minutes.

Haha. It’s really me. I am genuinely interested in what people have to say. Criticism and praise. And the reason I post frequently sometimes is that I am usually glued to the computer for several months as I edit my serials. So, to take a break, I read what people have to say about what I am editing 
However, I am traveling to Uganda in an hour for 3 weeks to be a Director’s Mentor at the Maisha Film Lab, so won’t be able to check or post that much. Hopefully I can try and do something like that in Pakistan as well for film students.

Mehreen, it is totally AWESOME to have you on board. Please keep posting regularly as it's great to read your inputs on the amazing serials you're making. I'm sure they're wired in Uganda so you'd still be able to log in. As for Daam, it's probably the best I've seen since Tanhaiyaan.
She's the real deal folks:) coz i emailed her a few days back (on her official email address)and she told me she is leaving for uganda and since she hasn't announced that piece of information anywhere else, it's definitely her on GS.
can't wait for the new episode that airs tomorrow

What was that scene when mamoo comes and gives money to his sister? or was it the father who hands money? I saw the epi on the net and i think it wasnt clear what happened there.
I feel for Maleeha, shes being betrayed by her close friend and brother.
Fiza is a familiar character, so real.
The celebs employ ghost writers for managing the web stuff. the twitter and facebook thing is for promoting their films and brands. it's so hard to believe that most of the cast is brand new...gives the serial a whole new appeal and freshness. Hats off to the entire team for pulling off an awesome job especially all the people making their debut with this drama!

A pretty good episode...Its amazing how well the guy's family is taking the whole Zara issue while its the bratty sister who has class issues ringing in her head. Fiza is turning into a real villain...I wonder if she has the hots for Junaid? If this were a movie, a seduction scene would be so awesome haha...

At any rate, great non-melodramatic performances from everyone. Its a relief watching actors acting like the normal people I've seen around me, unlike the crappy stuff dished out in most serials.

manhoos fiza kee mangni toot gaee hai. i have a feeling Junaid will be forced into marrying his stupid cousin fiza for the sake of his sister coz i bet the retardo hubby will put down the condition that "if you don't marry my sister i'll divorce yours". notice that in the OST promo, there isn't a single shot of sanam baloch dressed as a bride. there is a shot of her looking sadly at the ruby necklace junaid gave her. ............. i hope i am wrong about this
