** DAAM **

Re: ** DAAM **

oh yes few flaws doesnot make this drama bad in any sense. its still great

Re: ** DAAM **

I just meant that they killed her off in the play (a little conveniently)

Re: ** DAAM **

I found the end very satisfying, but know some people who were disappointed that Sanam and Junaid didn't end up together. I think completely otherwise and would've been VERY disappointed if it had happened otherwise.

The forced breakup was the catalyst for Zara to take charge of her life and grow both professionally and personally. The only burden on her was that adeel didn't know why she left him and that she never got a chance to talk to maleeha and get everything out of her system .Once she does both of these, she can truly move on.

So much time has passed and she's experienced so much in the past 7 years: specialization, residency, job, monetary security, a new life, new friends. She's probably interacted with hundreds of people during that time and made countless new memories. Her getting over Junaid is very very natural. Maleeha and Junaid on the other hand are EXACTLY where they were 7 years ago and are both living in the past since the present isn't how they'd planned it to be. Junaid thinks he still loves Zara, only because he has a miserable life and thinks about what could've been as opposed to what is( which is marriage to a psychotic woman). If he were happy he would've forgotten her. I think it's very realistic don't you?

Btw the forced breakup was the best thing that could've happened to Zara. Yes it was painful and cruel, but if Maleeha had happily married her bro and zara, wouldn't zara have felt "ehsaan mund" her entire life and suffered from an inferiority complex. Now she is a confident and successful individual who recognizes her own brilliance.

Re: ** DAAM **

well good thing you didn't direct this drama or you would've changed the ending:)

Re: ** DAAM **

I agree, the ending was perfect. I found the Maleeha character to be borderline childish and unstable, subject to emotional whims and impulses. I don't think Zara needs to deal with that, and one way to avoid any crap from her old pal in the future was to quit Junaid, which she did, without too much glycerine, thankfully. She comes across as a stable, sane, thinking person, not a caked silicone-stuffed bimbo. Thankfully.

The awam however wants the women to remain dumb forever, and to forgive and forget. Shouldn't happen that way, and in Pakistan specifically, people need to learn to move on.

Re: ** DAAM **

^
Completely agreed!! I think the sub continent in general LOVVVES "pyar aik dafa hee hota hai" type themes and can't comprehend people moving on, even though moving on is intrinsic to human nature.. how else do you suppose people survive terrible tragedies including the deaths of their loved ones....

i just remembered Mrs havisham from great expectations, even the western audience used to be so filmy a decade ago, thank God they've matured, hopefully we will too:)

THANK YOU Umera and Mehreen

Re: ** DAAM **

I want to see Daam Team on the TV. "Making of Daam"

Re: ** DAAM **

Great analysis Doree and Stalker. I would have hated it if Zara went back to Junaid. I am so glad that Umera and Mehreen showed an intelligent strong woman in the form of Zara which can serve as a great role model for other women who might be dealing with similar situations in real life. The portrait of a self sufficient successful woman was put across beautifully without it being preachy.

Re: ** DAAM **

^^ True, that. In general, Mehreen Jabbar serials present a pretty sane outlook at life, which is refreshing after the melodramatic garbage Pakistanis are fed courtesy films and soaps from across the border (and some of our own stuff as well). She's been doing amazing work since the first serial I saw from her, Harjaee and I would love to see an out and out commercial film (and not a Ramchand Pakistani!) from her -- I'm sure she can strike gold with her take on Pakistani mainstream cinema.

Re: ** DAAM **

^ I don't know if a total commercial film is really her style. That would be completely coming out of her comfort zone.
I have to see if Harjaae is on Youtube.

Re: ** DAAM **

Daam is the best drama of 2010.

Re: ** DAAM **

After a few sleepless nights, Ive just finsihed watching Daam. All I can say is , thank you Rukhsarbibi for reccomending this to me!
The acting, directing, writing ...everything was amazing. I think I've been missing out the last couple of years!

Re: ** DAAM **

You're welcome s_mk. I am glad you enjoyed it as much as all of us did :)

Re: ** DAAM **

I loved this drama...the ending and everything else!

Re: ** DAAM **

I don't watch dramas much but I really did love this! Although for me some parts seemed a little rushed or glossed over, I loved the story. And Zara's character was an inspiration, although it is fiction I do remember thinking if she can do this why cant I :)

Re: ** DAAM **

Re: ** DAAM **

sorry don't know Blessed.

the drama just started on ARY US on Sundays in place of some Aijaz Aslam/Humayun/Mona Lisa boring soap.

Re: ** DAAM **

That would be news to me. I highly doubt if that's the case.
