** DAAM **

Re: ** DAAM **

Thank you all. It's now the last episode remaining and i do appreciate all the comments and opinions. The actress playing Zara's mother is Lubna Aslam, and Maleeha's mother is played by Parveen Malik who is an old family friend and has acted in many serials off and on through the years. I agree about the flashbacks completely but unfortunately we have to deliver a 38 min episode and sometimes when it's falling short, there is no other recourse than using flashbacks..it's actually only a technical reason and I wish there was another way to go about it.
I agree Mano's death should have been explained more. The serial was actually short by 2 episodes and we had to shoot extra scenes 6 months later and because of lack of time , I think we may have overlooked some basic things..but you live and learn ! :) The extra mamoo scenes had to do with the short duration as well. With all the creative control that a writer and a director has, sometimes there have to be compromises. That is the game of this industry all over the world.

Re: ** DAAM **

wohi hua jiska darr tha:(

well ya it did seem that things were ended in a hurry…but as mehreen explained they had to compromise on a few things …so may be we should get used to these compromises too…

well i am guessing the end would be like maleeha n fizza would pay the price(Daam) this time…poor junaid and zara had already paid it…though i think junaid and zara would be emotionally blackmailed once again because of his daughter and sister but lets see whether he takes it or not and even then there is no surety that zara would marry him … :(…such is life…

hayee i wish they end up together…biggest wish of my life :p:(

Re: ** DAAM **

btw ignoring all the hitches...loved this drama...mehreen good job done,

a few scenes were quite emotional and teary.....like when they visit their old home and after that sanam says...sab kuch khatam hogiya uskay janay kay baad ......later on junaid gets the reality check ...etc etc

Re: ** DAAM **

i am guessing the ending will be no good:hoonh: maleha ko pailai hii izaat sai ghar aa jana chahiyai tha.doctor this, family background strong tha, koch bhi kar laitee.pata nahi apnai bahi kii life kiu hell bana dee.uuufff i cant stand fiza:snooty:

Re: ** DAAM **

i know sheen ...i dont understand...she still cant get the reason for junaid being away from her....that is stupid.....she is his sister..she should have gotten the idea first....plus both of them are living an unhappy life ....why is she so dumb to understand?:|

Re: ** DAAM **

after all its a drama

Re: ** DAAM **

omg...the junaid-zara-fiza confrontation was delicious!!! well performed scene...everyone did awesome...a lot of undercurrents bubbling to the surface there, yet somehow restrained. wow!

Re: ** DAAM **

such a sad episode :( 7 yrs later, everyone has paid a hefty price to get where they are, even zara and her family, their scenes were tinged with sadness too because mano is no more and there is too much emotional baggage. i blame maliha solely for this mess, felt like throttling her in this episode, in my opinion she is worse than fizza! fizza at least never pretended to be all caring and goody two shoes, she is what she is and everyone knows it, whereas maliha single handedly and knowingly destroyed the lives of two people who trusted her and were supposedly at one time her closest and dearest...what a selfish backstabber and the worse part is she does not even seem remotely sorry for what she did, especially to her own brother. too busy feeling sorry for herself.

Re: ** DAAM **

once junaid finds out wat maleeha did i think he might not care abt her or fizza anymore. he's bearing fizza just for maleeha's sake. their marriage is already over, divorce or no divorce. Fizza didn't change a bit in 7 yrs. girls do tone down after marriage but she's as badtameez as ever. Maleeha's selfishness brought distances b/w so many ppl her n zara, her n junaid, her n her inlaws, junaid n zara, her dad n phuppo. its totally her who lost at all ends.

Re: ** DAAM **

Mehreen, the cast you managed to assemble would work really well in a film -- they're all very goodlooking (yet not in the traditional way) and very talented...stick with them!

Re: ** DAAM **

Awww shucks :( the Mamoo scenes seemed completely forced and not at all yours or Umera's style of directing and writing. When I was watching them, I wondered who wrote or directed these scenes because they came across as forced and unnatural.

I think someone said it in this thread before. Please pick your producers wisely :) I know Humayun is a good friend of yours but looks like you had to pay a Daam for this friendship too ;-)

totally agree! some great small moments in this episode which are Mehreen's hallmark.

Re: ** DAAM **

i hope some how zara and junaid end up together!! i hate fiza!!!

Re: ** DAAM **

  1. This being an urdu drama, I think the credits should be rolled in urdu as well, or at the very least, both in english and urdu. Additionally, each of the actors name should have the characters name written in front as well, so that we can put actor and character together. For example, Sanam Baloch as Zara. The reason is that while we are already familiar with the names of lead actors, the minor characters should also get some recognition.

  2. Your treatment of the subject is very real, otherwise the story has some incredible twists and turns, but this being Umera's story I am not very surprised. For one you always see 'poetic justice' in her novels. Ths takes her stories too far from reality. For instance even in Daam, it appears that in the end all is well and rosy for Zara and her family. But it doesn't always happen this way in real life. Good things don't necessarily happen to good people, nor do evil people always get punished in this life. In my opinion, the superb direction has done wonders for an otherwise average story. And all the credit goes to Mehreen.

I do feel sorry for Junaid the most. Maleeha is paying the price of being mean to her best friend. Now her married life is a mess and on top of that she has a sister in law like Fiza. Fiza is unhappy although she has junaid, because he doesn't love her and for someone like her it's nothing short of torture. But why is poor Junaid stuck with a wife like Fiza!

Re: ** DAAM **

silver may be in the next episode...we will get the good news that junaid divorces fiza and marries with zara (which i highly doubt)...the reason for junaid being still stuck to fiza is his sister definitely...he married with the person he never liked because of his mean n selfish sister.

Re: ** DAAM **

Ironically, Zara has to sacrifice her love for the happiness of her sister, and Junaid is forced to marry Fiza for the sake of his sister's happiness.Zara's sister is very happy, but poor Junaid's sacrficing for nothing. Maleeha's life is harder than before, and Junaid too has to suffer with Fiza. She is so mean to their mom too, halanke their mom is such a sweet person.

Re: ** DAAM **

Well Maleeha is the only one who is to blame, very selfish.

Re: ** DAAM **

Frankly, this is about as real as it gets. I've seen families rise up the social ladder in a span of a few years, after someone gets a good career, or they move abroad etc. And everything is not hunky dory at Zara's end, I mean she (voluntarily) lost (sacrificed?) her chance with Junaid and still feels abt it now. You know it's not like they should turn it into a documentary focusing on societal realism or something -- there has to be some plot, and karma taking its course with Maleeha is part of it, and YES that does actually happen. So overall the writer and the director have done a commendable job balancing reality with a message-oriented plot, in a span of like 17 or 18 episodes. I mean I wouldn't mind if this went on for another 100 episodes haha :)

Re: ** DAAM **

well if there r jus 13-14 epis then there’s no need of using Flashbacks..i ve already said…mehreen u shud not work with 7th sky..this man humayun jus wants to make money n loves dragging…anyways
