** DAAM **

Re: ** DAAM **

.

You did not get it…if dramas were to strictly follow ‘reality’ they would become reality shows. When we say ‘based on reality’ don’t take that literally.

Films/drama have their own language and rules just like any other art forms. The beauty of any art lies in subtlety. In films and dramas blatantly depicting everything is considered an uncreative approach. Don’t abuse the viewers’ intelligence by shoving everything down his throat.
Take the first scene of Psycho. The illicit relationship between the lead characters was established just through shot composition alone. You can convey the message in a much stronger manner through the grammar of sceen language.

Re: ** DAAM **

I'm not taking anything literally. Daam is made for a commercial channel so too much arty stuff isn't going to go down well with the viewers. We are discussing a drama serial not some mind-blowing art flick competing for the palme d'or. A slap is a slap - why give it subtlety? It will no longer be effective.

Re: ** DAAM **

M/Jabbar serials are different because they lack the melodrama, and the awful slo-mo found in most other television dramas. Let’s keep it that way – though I wouldn’t mind watching some racy stuff provided it’s shown in the right context

Btw, the casting choices in Daam are amazing, would love to see the same group of actors in another serial :k:

To Mehreen Jabbar:

I recently read an article on the khan dynasty titled “the incredible khans of squash”. The author traced the legacy of the khans and where and how it all started. Interestingly a gora friend of mine referred it to me after i showed complete ignorance about the khans. I find the story very inspirational and I know this is not your usual type of topic but it would be great to see a movie on the khan dynasty.
Here’s the article, if nothing else, it’s a GREAT read.

“If the Khan story were made into a television series it would be even more demanding on our credibility than Jewel in the Crown or The Far Pavilions…”

yeah u r rite…i like the cast..i appreciate new talent…luv mehreen’s choice :k:

Re: ** DAAM **

mamo is an extremely pathetic character....it just amazes me that people do have an ability to go really low in real life as well....and i hope and wish i dont turn out to be a human like him at any point in life....

and Fiza....she is such a snob and seriously deserves a slap...

finally fiza's engagement ended....and i guess in the next episode or so there would be this dhamaka that junaid and she should get married to each other.....i dont want upcoming episodes to turn into tragedy for zara's family...they have had enough:(

Re: ** DAAM **

I like this drama.

ya if thats where the drama is headed i wouldn;t see it, way too depressing as is :( i would have liked to see some lighthearted positive moments in zara's family too, its one tragedy after another in that house

Re: ** DAAM **

whts wrong with fiza… she’s very selfish…us ne junaid k liye hi apni engagement khatam ki hay

btw,she acts well

Re: ** DAAM **

who's Zara's mom ? can someone tell me her name plz.

Re: ** DAAM **

Okay, the groundwork is being laid for the Junaid/Fiza match...things will probably get more interesting in the next episode :)

Re: ** DAAM **

Same here!
I wish there was a balance of some sort. Show them having a good time once in a while over some halwa puri or something. This week's episode felt like some sort of a Shakespearan tragedy for the family.

I really wish Umera Ahmed would have written a more balanced script - sub kuch herr waqt bura nahi hota. There is something called the triumph of the human spirit.
One thing I realized after watching this week's episode that the plot is quite wafer thin. It is due to the strong characters and strong direction that the play is doing well. Otherwise the whole mamu coming over and being a PITA and Fiza being a snob is getting kind of old now. The story needs to move beyond these two characters causing problems for everyone and Maleeha/Zara's mom as being puppets in their hands. Insaan herr baar aik hi jaga se dhoka nahi khaata. He/She learns after being fooled once or twice by the same person.
I hope things move forward with some light hearted undertones.....doubt it though.

Re: ** DAAM **

As long as they keep probing into the characters and keep the plot moving, I really don't think there's any need for comic relief which really serves as a distraction in most situations. I like the fact that they're sticking to what really viewers like me want to see -- a story line, with interesting interactions between characters and really no useless stuff. It's intense, but hey if you want an average/typical Pakistani serial there are so many out there now :)

Though I have to agree that Behroze Sabzwari is hamming majorly. But that's just a minor glitch.

Re: ** DAAM **

I am talking about comic relief. I am just talking about some light hearted moments sprinkled here and there. They had some initially when Zara is thinking about the past w/ Junaid and Maleeha and when they go for a walk on the beach. Something along those lines just helps balance out all the "drama"

Re: ** DAAM **

when does episode 10 air?

Re: ** DAAM **

Probably aired sometimes earlier today in PK.

Re: ** DAAM **

the latest episode didn't do anything for me. I am getting tired of the constant blame game between zara's parents and of mamoo barging in their house and then *****ing with his wife afterwards. and why the hell is maleeha acting like Zara's stealing her boyfriend or smth?? dimagh karab hai sub ka

Re: ** DAAM **

did they telecast ep 10????

Re: ** DAAM **

ya hiba they did...i am assuming you are in pakistan...they aired daam at 9 0' clock

btw in this episode....the only good thing was scenes between zara and junaid...but maleeha hd been unnecessarily rude with her.....rest was pretty much the same.....i am just hoping that junaid wont give up on zara for his sister......
