In the south, daal is often eaten with rice not roti. Daal with Roti for us makes for a very bland and unexciting fare and a rather strange combo. We prefer some nice spicy curries with our rotis Rice on the other hand is eaten with various types of daals- tomato daal, palak daal, methi daal etc

how about two chapaatis with daal fillings in between them called bhari roTii…? do you have that in the south?
