Okay, so I’m one super sentimental person and being a long time lurker of these boards I’ve accumulated some things I definitely plan on doing for my big day.
2 of the most important:
Signing the nikkah papers w/ the same pen! This is so important to me, it’s insane! I’m not getting married abhi but my parents and family know already that they are in charge of making sure me and my future-hubby sign w/ the same damn pen! >.<
Framing the wedding invites. I saw this from an episode in Friends but I loved the idea! Plus, you can get those 3-way frames and frame the invites from all 3 of the days.
Can you guys think of any more whether they’re the ones you did or have in mind, etc?

okay, i really like the idea of framing the invitations. i may just do that!
what about having random surprises for him at the wedding? like for instance, a groom's cake, or an ice sculpture or a cake topper that signifies something about the two of you that he won't know until the day of. little surprises as the night goes on is kind of cute and fun too. oh, i'm also doing the pen thing. going to get it engraved with our wedding date on it :)

the pen case would be engraved w/ our names and dates.
Another thing I wanna do after watching an episode of Cake Boss is getting a red and black cake made w/ the topper being a desi couple in a rickshaw or a taanga, lol. I mean it's not exactly everyones cup of tea but a cake topper that is memorable and fun is awesome.
And another thing I definitely will have are matching wedding bands/rings.

The pen idea is TOTALLY cute! i have seen people frame their invites..which is cute also...here are some ideas
1.during the rukhsati when the girl is leaving you know how the girls brother walks her out with the quran over her head keep that as your new family quran...so everytime you see your quran you go right back to your wedding...
2.cake toppers...
3.cake slicers...
4.always keep a bottle of the perfume you wore on the wedding and the cologne he wore..its a familiar cozy sentimental smell...
5.engraving your rings...
6.engraved wedding album
7.This one couple i know had their shaddi picture wall sized in their living room. yes a whole wall was their picture on canvas or some other speciality photo paper
8. ok so this is cheesey but when alot of girls get their mehndi their mehndi artist might put your husbands initals in your mehndi some where or drawing of a dulha and dulhan in the mehndi and the guy is suppose to look at your mehndi at night and try to find it (lol so dang filmy! lol)

My fiances mother passed away two years ago and as a wedding gift, I was thinking of having her name engraved on a silver plate and displaying at the entrance table with some candles and a bouquet of flowers. After the night is over, we can display the plate in our house to symbolize that her presence is always with us.
Haha..and the idea of his initials on your hand that he has to find! It really is so filmy but so funny! My fiance is a total westerner and I am so filmy so I'm going to tease him with that. That'll be funny. Make sure its hard for them to find ladies! ;)

Sana, I love your idea of like a “in loving memory,” table! I have never seen a desi person do it I always she non desi folks do it..You have to put up pics… btw, its a VERY sweet thought!
