Hey guys have a question for those who may have arranged a floor seating for the mehndi.
I am planning to have two types of seating one on the floor and obvioulsy table seating (men and women will be separated for the mehndi) both areas will have floor and table seatings fo the men side i will be having an Arabian theme where they can choose to sit on the floor or table and rent hukkas give out date and kava to keep them entertainment.
Women obvioulsy have so much more to do so dohlki and dancing for the women side and obvioulsy seating on the floor but im having a difficult time figuring out where to buy cusions or pillows at a reasonable price to place on the floor can someone please suggest anything as i am in US (NJ) i can also get the pillows shipped from pakistan w/o a prob but before i do tht i want to know if getting them from there is the best option. i’ll need at least 50-60 maybe mor pillows/cusion as the guest list has at least 300+ ppl
What about just getting the pillow covers made from Pakistan & just filling them with old rags & clothes you have at home? Have some cotton handy too. Someone gave me this idea long time back to save some bucks & have as many pillows as I want. Person who suggested had done this on her daughter's wedding & it worked fine.
I know most of us don't even keep rags or old clothes here in the U.S. Just thought I should mention the idea.
yea i thought about tht and will make some by filling old rags but there wont be enough rags since like u mentioned we dont keep much rags here so i was gogint omake as many as i possibly could and the rest just get pillows for a reasonable cost. cusions covers are from pakistan just need fillers!! thanks for the advice much appreciated.
Go to IKEA. I am gonna be using their cushion fillings (they do various sizes) and buying the cushion covers from Pakistan. Let us know what you decide to do. Of course, with 300 guests, you will have an awful lot of cushions to deal with afterwards - think about storage before and after. I am sure there are Moroccon theme hire companies out in NY or NJ. Find out if they can hire them to you - plus you get great colours and quality.
I am going to go this rental place soon and see how much they will rent them to me but before that I would like to make sure i have every possible option before making a final decision and before goignt o a rental place i'd like to see if their prices are reasonable sn if so i can just book them the day i go instead of making several trips. i will def. check out ikea didnt know they had fillers either
Storage isnt a prob for me at all i have excessive amount of storage place also my bro will inshallah be getting married right after me so i can use them then and then sell them to whom evera fter that but i need them for both my wedding and bros
i know someone for their mehndi got floor cusion covers made frm pakistan....and she bougtht lots of cusions from a fabric store..after teh mehndi she returned them
get the covers from pakistan for sure- you can get them stitched or buy them readymade from places like khaadi. the filling doesn't need to be rags- any fabric store will have foam they can cut down to size and you can put in batting on top to make it extra soft!
we just got tonnns of brocade and banarsi fabric from Joann fabrics....and stitched them ourselves...I also got some covers from world trade center in dallas..with gorgeous nakshi kaam...filled them up with cushions from hobby lobby..

if ur in the uk go to ikea or even poundland and you can get a whole bunch of cushions, i agree u should get the covers made in pakistan or just make them yourselve if you have time but 50-60 is alot to make !
good luck!
You’re most welcome! I checked the IKEA site and they have various priced cushions, I found this one called INNER on the Ikea UK website IKEA | Cushions & throws | Decorative cushions & covers | INNER | Inner cushion and it’s reasonably priced at £1.47, must be even cheaper in the USA. Chanda, good idea, I should keep mine for my bro’s shaadi as well. My mom was complaining about where we would store them but you can buy loads of those bags which have the air sucked out of them and put them in long term storage (garage, basement, garden shed etc)… Also ladies, make sure you get the right sized covers for the right right cushions…!
Cusion covers is not a prob at all i would sew them myself just dont have time really busy schedule so im just going to get them ready made from pakistan i think its so worth getting the covers made from there.
now im thinking about filling all the covers with foam i can get a big foam thing they sell at mattress stores and can cut it out myself and fill them foam is not that expensive!!
i dont want to buy and return as i will be needing the cusions for my bros wedding and i personally wouldnt feel comfortable buying, using and returning.
Thanks for allt he great ideas everyone!! will let u guys know how they turn out and how much it cost to make them.
Wow the price for the cusions “inner” is amazing its $2.99 USD but still worth it and can be bought for cheaper if purchased with coupon. will def. see which is cheaper filling the covers with foam or these!!
With the exchange rate changing that more expensive than the UK. However still a bargain if you think about it plus you get to buy in bulk, not all shops have the amount of cushion inners that you might be looking for.
What colours are you guys looking at? Do you think cushions that are all the same design and colour is overkill or should I mix them up? I only plan on getting around 10-12 cushions since my Mehndi will be at home and not a venue...
^ hmm...i personally prefer a variety of colors not just green and yellow it sound and looks bland yet so typical but if you have shades of pink, green, gold (instead of yellow) navy blu i think it will look better thats wut im planning on doing since the color of my mehndi suit is green and yellow i want my suit to not blend in with its decor it seems so tacky i think a hint of green and yellow looks good but not everything i think the main focus should be yourself and ways of making urself stand out and not blend in with the decor. wut do u say?
Actually my mum has done something so similar, she designed them and got them stitched.but mostly are from the leftover kapra...
i'll b using those for my mayon/dholki's InshAllah...
