Hey all you Genius & Resourceful People out there!!!
I some some quick questions: (just to clarify…I’m getting married this Aug.)
My would-be-MIL went to this designer in Lahore for my Langha and the Designer
told her that aaj kaal Langhas are being made with longer shirts/kurtis.
But the length she suggested was 32-34" for the kurti…I was a bit dazzled to hear that as I feel that would be waaaayyyyy too long to wear on top of a langha.
I mean normal short shirt on a trouser is about 33".
So please enlighten me here, is that really the trend these days in Lahore.
Secondly she(designer) suggested longer sleeves
And she said for my trouser/shirt dresses she will make straight simple trousers with no slits coz aajj kaal it’s like that…
Please guide me hear so I can respond to my MIL as to what I would like done with my Langha and other dresses
You should go wiht what suits YOUR body type, not just what's in. For the outfits, you can get a small number of suits made in teh style that is "in" and have hte rest get made in "classic" styles. Styles change so quickly, it would really suck ot have something now and then it be totally out later that year!
don't eliminate the slits, i'd say... it'll make a long, tube-like shirt, and unless you've got a model perfect figure, i don't see it working out.
i have seen longer shirts on lehengas though... it looks really nice, i think... much more elegant than a short shirt, and this is coming from someone who had a short shirt with her wedding lehenga ;) i know if i had to redo things, and this is my only "if i could" yay! haha, i'd go with a longer shirt cos it gives better shape i find, or if you're getting a shorter shirt, get heavier kaam on the daaman cos otherwise, it kind of rides up and doesn't look so good. something needs to weigh down the fabric and make the shirt fit better- either length or kaam.
also for material, go with something with really good "Fall" and drape because its going to add a lot instead of a stiffer material.

Yeah that's true too...I'm not concerned about the dresses are I am not getting that many made....probably 10 from my side and around that from theirs!!
I'm more concerned about the Langha style and trends...pardon my ignorance but I've not been to Pk in 3-4 years :/
Um for a lengha, u shud definitely go for what suits you (which you would know better) and wat u think u wud be comfortable in... i wud advise against going TOO trendy since it will just look outdated a few years from now.. :)

ahahahha...Thank you this really helps....and no i don't think I have a model perfect figure :p I'm more towards the skinner side :D Yet I've no complains, I like it as is!!!
My MIL & SIL selected a Langha with a combo of Peach & Tea Pink...I do not know what material...I'll be calling the Designer tomorrow to add my two cents to how I want everything done :p

So I should thread the neutral ground of Fashion! Not too trendy, not too outdated!!
in pakistan, anything goes in terms fo lenghas, there os such a massive variety which is great i think as u have to go with what suits ur skin colour, body frame etc
i think shirts styles r changed now n this is true dat one shuould check dat wat suits according to body type but the major changes like pajama slit is out or very tight shalwar is also out of fashion,,,i mean we can adopt very basic changes in fashion but actually we must thnk wat is gud n proper for us.
well.. wear wht suits u.. secondly.. dont go for long sleves.. they dont look good at all.. (whether they r IN or not) .. full sleves hides ur mehndi, n churiyan.. so u can image how it will look..
