All I am saying is that you don't have to wait until something bad happens to stop doing something. Its like since I've never been shot at in Pakistan for however long I lived there means that pakistan is safe.
You don't have to wait till something bad happens. There are stories of sketchy things happening on specially ttc and there is a reason behind those stories. I have had odd chances of being on bus late at nite and its weird to be honest and weird people are on the bus. So if your parents are concerned I wouldn't blame them. If it was my sister on the bus i'd be worried too.
I take public transportation late at night very often (a few times i've come home past midnight). Never ever ever had any issue. I've been to TO and I can honestly say, NYC has a much worse reputation for safety than TO does.
Thanks!
no u can not butt in ... i'm just kidding. All I am saying is that you don't have to wait until something bad happens to stop doing something. Its like since I've never been shot at in Pakistan for however long I lived there means that pakistan is safe.

You are right, you do not need something to happen to you before you start being careful.
However, as long as this part of the conversation is about my safety, I am very careful. Coming home by 11/12, once or twice a week, when the bus drops me literally minute and a half away, cuts down my chances considerably. My bus is a busy one and I see more weird people on the subway, than I do on my bus.
Again, not taking my safety for granted here, but I need not be paranoid either.
I dont know about TO but here, buses do tend to be safer....a bus driver can simply refuse to pick up certain passengers or let someone else on and he can also kick someone off...

exactly my point ... if ur gonna be late once or twice a week and then take a bus ... ur parents are gonna be worried ... thats a given and i think they have the right to be
Awwwwww my curfew is like 8pm hahaha I lead such a sheltered life. Adorable.
Awww you must be my long lost sister then .. ;)
Curious Lady: You asked people for their opinions and apparantly they dont agree with you, so instead of getting all defensive, maybe you should chill out and really understand what they are trying to tell ya, afterall they are are talking about your safety. They could honestly care less.
My curfew differs lol depending on where i'm going. If it's a friend's engagement, party, wedding etc my parents understand i'll be late but since my friends always pick me up from home and drop me back it isn't an issue. If it's just out to dinner i'll drive and my parents will expect me home by 9pm (at the latest).
Having said that though I am 22 and I understand that if they want me home by a certain time they are justified in making such a decision, given how dangerous it can be. And I don't argue with it. But i'm lucky in that most of my friends are muslim/pakistani so their parents think similarly in terms of not allowing them to stay out until all hours of the night and so we usually arrange gatherings at an earlier time.
Driving in central London?! How do you manage that?!
I’m 20 and as long as my parents know where I am and who I’m with they don’t mind be being out late, the latest is 1 am though. Normally, when it gets quite late my dad will insist on picking me up as I don’t have a car atm Bless him!
I was never allowed out late ( after 9 or 10) as a kid, and now i go out with my hubby, and if i do go out with mates, its usually me who wants to come home, as opposed to my hubby calling me home.
when i was working, the timing never mattered, but if im not, then it does.if its a wedding/party thats diff, max maybe 12 or so.....but just socializing, then no way.
i like curfews, we need boundaries, i want my kids to be the same, esp if its a girl, id rather be home, then out having fun,and have my parents worry. having fun at ur parents expense is never right, not like anyones stopping me during the day.
Everyone I know drives to central London, especially if they live in the suburbs. Heck, I live in central London and I drive everywhere. What’s the big deal? Even the parking is free after 6.

Did I say it was "a big deal" anywhere? No.
I just know about the nightmares of congestion charges and the general traffic and congestion problems there. People I know who live around the London area don't drive into central London and prefer to use public transport to save time and money. Kudos to you if you drive in central London but it just seems like a hassle imo hence my original post.
Honestly, it's not that bad. Everyone who lives outside central complains about driving in central London and I don't understand why, sorry! In any case, it's worth the hassle because you don't have to go home on the tube with drunk creeps and you can come home after the last tube.
