Cupcake tray

Quick question from the Baking guru’s ..

I have a cupcake oven tray. Can I make cupcakes in it directly without using the cupcake covers first? Would the cupcakes stick to the pan even after I have oiled the tray well?

Has anyone used the Silicone bakeware… are they any good?

Re: Cupcake tray

Depends on what kind of cupcakes you are making, for me few times when I was making really soft ones, the bottom got stuck, dense or oilier reciepes usually don’t stick. But since the cupcake got stuck few time I started using the cupcake liners, and works well every single time.

Don’t be fooled by the silicon bakeware tv ads or pic sachi mei, the stuff is not that non stick. I had a small muffin tray and it worked fine but a friend had few different bakewares, she was not too satisfied with the big ones, the cakes used to crack and break.

Re: Cupcake tray

you must always use the paper cases and don't forget to oil them with a soft brush.

Re: Cupcake tray

They stick, use the liners..some of them are so pretty too!

A cupcake needs a pretty liner!

Re: Cupcake tray

thanks everyone …

thanks Dosa Chick for sharing your review of the silicone bakeware .. I recently bought six separate cupcake silicone moulds … and now i am wondering how good the cupcakes will be in them :hmmm:

Re: Cupcake tray

you can use one of those cooking sprays in your tray before you put the batter into it. and when you take your cupcakes out of the oven, dont leave them in the tray for more than 7-8 minutes, and they wont stick. If you leave them longer, the oil/butter/spray that you used on the inside will get hard (because it will get cold), and then your cupcakes will get stuck to it.

Re: Cupcake tray

thanks Saima for your help ...

Re: Cupcake tray

Whenever I am craving cupcakes we never have the liners at home. I have made them without the liners multiple times and never had a problem. I just use a baking spray before I add the batter and they pop right out.

Re: Cupcake tray

wow , thanks Guac .. is the baking spray nonstick by any chance? coz i dunno where i am gonna get that .. would the usual cooking oil be ok ?

Re: Cupcake tray

I use PAM baking…its a non-stick spray with flour, you can find it any grocery store

I pretty sure oil would work…I mean if it works for cakes why not cupcakes?

Re: Cupcake tray

i say be all badass and skip the tray altogether. bake your cupcakes on the rack!

Re: Cupcake tray

Silicone bakeware is amazing :)

Re: Cupcake tray

You can use butter as you would with any cake pan, to grease before baking.

Re: Cupcake tray

thanks guys ... I will inshallah try that today ...

Re: Cupcake tray

I personally like the liners because they keep things clean and you dont even have to spray/oil/butter the pan. But when I do not have liners, I just spray the tray with some cooking spray that is butter flavor. If i do not have cooking spray, I put some oil and sugar mixture on the tray. Never had them stick though.

Re: Cupcake tray

oil and sugar mixture? doesnt the sugar melt and stick to the tray?

Re: Cupcake tray

i ws wonderin dun the liners burn if we use them... n r we supposed to put the whole mixture on the liner after puttin the liner on the tray or v cn put on liner n then put in tray.. also pls tell me u use normal tray or cupcake tray which hs 6-7 holes in it

Re: Cupcake tray

No, the cupcake wrappers do not burn. And you place the liners in the cups of the tray and then fill with cake mixture. You must use a cupcake tray to make cupcakes - not a normal tray.

Re: Cupcake tray

Why not just use butter? It's yummy. :D

Re: Cupcake tray

So , I oiled the tray and poured some batter directly in the cupcake tray and guess what .. the cupcake got stuck and didnt come out nicely :crying:

Sahar, do you melt the butter first?
