I don't what does it called but they dance only on sound of 'dhool' in a group in circle.

Luddi - girl's dance

Yes Muharram is very serious occasion, but as far as food is concerned, I don’t think any other festival could match with the variety of food prepared in Muharram. From Haleem to Biryani, Milkshake to Sikanjbeen, almost all variety is given as Nazr o Niaz. My family is Sunni, but we also distribute channa pulao and arrange for Rooh Afza sabeel for children (My Ammi says them Masoom).

I also observed some Muharram procession behind the main jaloos (doing Maatam), which come with dhol and shehnai probably depicting the yazeedi troops after the Shahadat of Hazrat Hussain (RA).

Most of my muslim friends are Shia Sayyids, including my landlady(maasi) in kanpur, both of his son, Ali bhaiyya and Muneer (kaake) used to beat themselves and used to bleed, and maasi and baaji beat their chest through out the procession, I used to get good dishes but seeing Bhaiyya and Kaake in that shape was disheartening:(
