How common is it to have favor bags on weddingday? I have heard that it`s normal to have them on Walima and not for weddingday. Is this right?

Re: Favor bags
I heard that they r supposed to b given after the nikkah, but mostly they r given in the valima, in my experience.
We had several evenings before a family wedding to prepare them, they took AAAAAAGES even with a gang of friends, cos we had to make over 500.
Used a square of organza or net fabric, put chocolates / sweets / sugared almonds in the middle, make a little bundle and tie the neck with gift wrap ribbon that can b curled. They looked really nice.
U can also get little bags from anywhere.

favours are a different concept to those that are given just after the nikkah, not sure what they are called. favours are like treats for the guests and also add to makling the table decs look fab!
Re: Favor bags
Are favors common in Pakistan these days?
I know little bags with sugared almonds/dried dates are common after the nikkah (like these)

A couple of the weddings I’ve been to have had small favor boxes with presents but given to close family/relatives/elders etc…
Re: Favor bags
On the wedding day, it is traditional in most Pakistani families for the groom's side to give something out immediately after the nikkah. However, in Western tradition, the hosts give party favors. So the traditions have merged and everyone does everything!
Re: Favor bags
I am sooo planning to give favor bags on mine, but perhaps just to close friends/cousins
Bags given out right after Nikah are from the groom`s side and called Nikah ki purye\Bidd and this are given as a rasam to moo mitha karna (I think). Favor bags are given as gift to the guests at the wedding. Nikah ki purye and favor bags are not the same.
Re: Favor bags
the favor bags r basically given my the boys side for the nikkah... but now a days the trend has changed... as i am in the wedding planning and decor business... now a days people are getting favors made for all three days just to add more festivity in it... i provide my clients with favors on the mayon, mehendi, barat and valima...depending on who so ever wants em..
i only did favors on my wedding, not mehendi, but i gave out three - there were sandalwood fans during the outdoor ceremony, mixed nuts for "cocktail" hour, and fortune cookies for guests to take home at the end of the night.
silsila, i love your favor containers! they're such a cute shape. what did you put in them?
Re: Favor bags
i’ve seen them being given out at mehndi, shadi, and valima ![]()
