As Allah swt said, human beings were taught to name things so that we know their nature.
For many things related to militancy in Arab lands (and by extension in Pak) are related to
--- Tribal behavior
--- Jihadist bloodshed
--- Islamist anarchy.
You were discussing israel and arabs so these things came up.

how does this make them cowards? they walking through what the locals claim and consider their land. a couple street thugs are making a noise and these two probably high teen guys run instead of shooting. They could easily have lost their cool and opened fire and killed a bunch!

Tribal minds work in a strange way.
Unfortunately this has been the hallmark of Palestinian "uprising".
They never came to the fight well prepared. Instead their childish and ignoramus behavior has lead them from one defeat to the next to the next.
Think about this.

I am making this comment without reading many posts, but really I see no cowardliness in that video. Its a simple safety protocol to protect yourself first and then decide what to do next. They did not run away from any threat, they just removed themselves out of that naughty mob situation if you may. What were you expecting from them, started to fire at the crowd?

Yeah nothing cowardly in that video. A bunch of people living in urban cities will know all about conflict areas and what to do. If they did this in Darfur or Afghanistan. They would be dead by now.
Certainly cowardly you could see the fear and apprehension on their face. They were startled. Not alert. Alert troops would have turned around guns at the ready crouched and the rest.

I am not going to challenge your comment CM as you have first hand experience and direct exposure of such conflicted areas, but to me, they were just walking through a normal street, they were not on any mission nor they were patrolling. An apprehensive expression was a normal reaction. Thank god that they ran out of that area rather than opting for the other reaction, that is started firing at the crowd. These villagers should use their brains before decided to play pranks with an armed soldier.

I have been with one or two armed escorts in Darfur. Hopefully some with Afghanistan in the future. But these men are nothing close to alert. When even Nigerian troops go out on patrols in areas which are 100% safe, they are more aware with what is going on around them.
Soldiers on patrol should be alert and ready to respond. These boys were nothing of the sort. They looked like they were out for a casual stroll on the street with their boyfriend.
