I think this money doesn’t matter (CNN Sourced):
lol just to remind you,.. the figure of 500 million $ is wrong.. facebook revenue is estimated to have 400-700 million yearly.. it’s estimated because it’s not a public trading company..
and that 2.37$ .. per user is from the person who is US/Canada & some parts of Europe. maybe Turkey too.. !
by the way Muslims account for less then 5% of this revenue, imo.. the major markets for facebook is North/South America, Europe, Aussi Continentt & Japan/South Korea…
Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak
After reading the responses from different posters it seems to be no problem for some to let it share.
Well it is also no problem for me to start a website within 24 hours regarding Holocaust funny pictures, humiliation of Jews by Nazis, or making fun of Zionism or making fun of Christianity or .
JUST ONLY THAT IF:
ISLAM HAVE SAID ME / US THAT FALSIFYING, TEASING, MAKING FUN OF OTHERS, THEIR BELIEFS, THEIR BELOVED THINGS OR HISTORY IS ALLOWED.
OR
(NAOZBILLAH) I WOULD HAVE BEEN NON RELIGIOUS AND HAVING A CRACK HEAD, OR EVEN LIKE SOME OF MUSLIMS HERE WITH A BELIEF "A MUSLIM WILL BE FORGIVEN FOR ALL OF HIS / HER ACTS AFTER THE PUNISHMENT"
PS: Sorry for CAPS! I wanted the difference to be clear and direct.

please provide the source you are saying. It is not tasting good what you cook at your kitchen. :p
Third world countries like Pakistan will definitely have no-impact. You need Turkey/Indonesia on the boat my friend..
And my friend you can read many things here too:
According to reports Facebook got 2359620 visits from Pakistan daily and this will contribute 47.5% total revenue of Facebook. It is yet to be ascertained if the whole Facebook will be banned or just a single URL will be filtered. In both the situations, step is inline with thousands of Facebook users and according to their urge of boycotting Facebook on May 20th.
Also regarding the ban:
Facebook has met with some controversy. It has been blocked intermittently in several countries including Syria,[10] China,[11] Vietnam,[12], and Iran.[13] It has also been banned at many places of work to discourage employees from wasting time using the service
Facebook - Wikipedia
Overall, we expect many of the same advertising trends to continue. Brand and self-serve advertising should increase — but so will virtual goods revenue. A wide variety of sources we spoke to expect Facebook to pass $1 billion in revenue this year, possibly reaching $1.1 billion.

Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak
reminds me of the time when blogspot was banned because someone had an objectionable blog on it.
TLK if the people of Pakistan want this why can they simply not switch off? What is the need for the courts to ban the site? Also how is this the court's jurisdiction to reflect public demand?
.. yeh 47.5 %
- so facebook is dependent on Pakistan now.. thank you..
i hope Facebook will soon transfer HQ to Swat.. stay tune.. !
reminds me of the time when blogspot was banned because someone had an objectionable blog on it.

If we go by your logic, there is no need of police or you are saying that most of the people are bad people?
no, they are not coming to your home
dont prepare chai for them
no, they are not coming to your home ;) dont prepare chai for them
Don't worry i will have bottle of chateau mouton rothschild.. for them ... !

but you're not going by my logic. police is needed where people cannot live the life they wish/are entitled to lead because someone violates their ability to do so. There is no way facebook can force anyone to use its services, so those who wish to stop using it can do so without a problem.

its like allow Alcoholics, its up to people if they want to drink or not.
its like allow sex on the street, its up to people if they do or not.
its like allow murder, its up to people if they do or not.

Arguable. Alcohol is directly forbidden in Quran, whereas Facebook has one group putting up pictures of the Prophet.
The point addressed however was whether or not this reflected a longing by the public to ban facebook. If such a longing prevailed in the country we would have no need for the ban.
Just as the courts (or you) dont trust people to abstain from Alcohol, they dont trust people to abstain from facebook.

A worse attempt. Bans on sex on the street are due to public decency laws, it is very much an infringement on your rights if you encounter that.

Clearly you did not understand my previous post.
Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak
The reason facebook was blocked, there were people trying to do a DDoS attack on fb servers which would of brought the internet down (supposedly) in Pakistan. Also to prevent the chances of street protests by the brave qaum which we all know lead nowhere. :)
Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak
^^ It will still be done :) It wasnt only Computers from Pakistan!!
Re: Court orders facebook block in Pak
I think this is the right decision by the courts to ban Facebook in Pakistan. Facebook was requested to take down offensive pages, but they have refused to do that.
These are the people who use the excuse of "free speech" to abuse Islam. People who don't respect others deserve no respect themselves. I see these people as our enemies.
The ban may be lifted later, but this ban does send them a message.
Ultimately I see nothing but clash between Muslims and the West. The West will continue to abuse Islam and Muslims unless we cease to be Muslims.** This is why Pakistan needs to move away from West and start looking at East Asia.**
long live retardation... LHC is seriously out of control.
people do these things to get a reaction out of us. and what do we do being the geniuses we are... we get worked up and act like retards. well guess what... mission accomplished for the ones who set out to provoke us.
this is the same LHC that has let known terrorists go free. as far I'm concerned, that is much more worrisome than some stupid facebook clowning.
