Just as some Islamic laws make you scratch your head and you say "I don't quite agree with it", there are some secular laws that are equally mind-boggling to some people. For example, I always have trouble understanding the logic of fining adults who don't wear seat belts. I think if someone is not hurting someone else, and wants to put himself at risk, thats his problem. Why should the state fine that person. But wearing seat belt is the law, if you break it, and are fined, you better pay it, whether you agree with the law/punishment or not. Simple concept, right?
In your haste to support these kind of brutal punishments you are not applying your mind. Let me try to make this simple for you.
Imagine that there is a person X who hates wearing seat belts.
Imagine that there is another person who wears seat belts.
Imagine both of them meet with a similar kind of accident. Since Y was wearing the seat belt, his injuries are minimal and the insurance company does not have to cough up a huge amount. Since X was not wearing a seat belt, the insurance company has to shell out a huge amount to take care of his medical bills. Since the insurance company wants to keep its profit margins intact, it decides to increase the insurance premium uniformly. Now there is an affect on Y too who religiously wears his seat belt. Simple economics right. Hope you understand.
Also a secular state(not so sure of the Islamic State) has a moral duty to protect its own citizens. That is why suicides are considered illegal.
Coming back to the topic, why do we have selective following of the rules when it suits the person. Just a question-- How many of you dont listen to music or dont have your pictures taken...

I am neither supporting nor opposing any "brutal punishment". This is a discussion forum, and I just asked a question.

blah blah blah
Jeez, so the whole argument is about insurance companies' premiums. Kinda too simplistic, huh. Just as insurance companies have higher premiums for smokers, I don't think anyone will have a problem with higher premiums for non-seat-belt-wearers. Why should the government be imposing a fine was my question. Anyway, thats diverting from the topic at hand. It was given as an example of secular laws that can be deemed silly. If you want to discuss it more fully, feel free to start another thread.
There is no mention fo 4 witnesses, so unless there are 4 witnesses that saw fornication take place, we can not call them fornicators, but victims of oppressive tribal mindset and kangaroo court, sorry...khachar court.
obviously you know what the punishment is for levelling false charges of fornication on someone dont you? which the khachar court and your high and mighty self are now liable for.

Silly to the those who do not understand. Similarly stoning people might be silly to those who do not understand the Quran. Only question is how many do really understand the rules and are capable of interpreting them in the way the Prophet (pbuh) would have wanted them interpreted.
Another important question is how the trial was conducted. Or rather who gave them the legal right to conduct these trials. Dont tell me that these guys do not need to have official sanction to conduct these kind of trials.
Or has the law order machinery completely broken down so that these idiots are conducting these kind of trials and executing the sentence.
^ So what has this rant against expat Pakistanis gotta do with implementing sharia inside Pakistan??
Faisal Bhai,
I was just taking this opportunity to point out that expats have to do their job in making Pakistan better by building mosques and religious schools in Pakistan and also explaining to goras and Hindus why sharia is the way to go.
