New York - Several countries walked out of the UN General Assembly on Thursday when Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accused Western governments of undermining international law.

Delegates from the United States, France and several other European countries stood up and walked out of the assembly hall 15 minutes after Ahmadinejad lambasted countries that had enslaved Africans and dominate the UN Security Council.

‘The answers are clear,’ the Iranian president said. 'They proclaimed they have the indisputable power. They insisted on imposing their lifestyles upon others

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

What makes u say he is "crazy"?........I m disappointed to see u refer to Ahmadinejad in that way and expected better from u............

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

He is only crazy because the western media says so.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

A certain sector of Western media may I add.\

Ahmadinejad is an inspirational man who lives for his people and speaks for many more people around the world. I watched his interview on ABC network the other day and he spoke more truth than the words of all the head of states of the world put together.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

.

A fair amount of Iranians don't care for him either. Unless of course you believe that the vasts protests, arrests, killings, and tortures of Iranian citizens a few Springs ago was a conspiracy to defame him.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Killings and tortures? I dunno...many with the old guard supported the protests, so if they were that severe Iran would be in the middle of a civil war right now.

The protests died because the hardliners don't like Ahmedenejad themselves, and quite a few of the protestrs are willing to work in a system they can infact participate in. They have powerful allies.

There are plenty of people who want to upset the system, replace it, but the state has no obligation to pander to their whims, and indeed has the obligation to supress them to ensure the surivival of the political system. This is a universal trait of a governance system.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Well...........independent studies suggest that more than 65% of the Iranian population support the system and including a majority number (over 50%) supporting Ahmedinejad.............someone posted a comprehensive study by an American institute right in this section of the GupShup a while back.....

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad’s UN address

this one?

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Perhaps not crazy, but just a puppy who finds himself on a short leash these days.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

this puppy sure knows how to lead.....better than the slaves who have sold everything to the corporate interests and the Zionist mafia lobbies.....

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Ofcourse he is Crazy,

He talks about double standards of western powers, who else but a crazy person would do that
He talks about holocaust
He says 9/11 is inside job
He tells everyone that US is Evil

He must be crazy of telling all those things, had he been sane, he might have licked the foots of west like all Muslim leaders do..

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

all the westeren diplomats are idiots walking out in droves like that. Have they not at times said controversial things and gotten away with ?

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

I like crazy people like him.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Ahmadinejad for president of Pakistan!

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Muslim countries and other supporters of the Palestinian should have walked out on Israel in protest... Courage of ones convictions is important. Ahmadinejad, for all his flaws, can be respected for standing for what he believes, however nuts it may sound.
But then again, being a pariah on the national stage, gives one the opportunity to say as they feel, because they have nothing to lose.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

Didn't Ahmedinajad deny the holocaust ever happened? If he did so, he is evil in my book.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

I believe he was protesting the fact that in the west, people are generally discouraged from questioning the holocaust, not denying it out right. Agree with him or not, but stifling those who question the holocaust, regardless of their motives, is a contradiction of the very thing the West has come to espouse, the right to free speech.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

It is not clear to me why Ahmedinajad would worry so much about this specific issue - is he so concerned about the rights of the people quesioning the holocaust?

In what way does the west stifle folksk who question the holocaust? Personally, I think those who question the holocaust are ignorant, willfully or otherwise. But I have not seen any punishment meted out to people who question the holocaust.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad’s UN address

I cant say that Ahmadinejad is anti Semitic. His country has issues with Israel, and he has criticized Israel to no end. But you cant equate criticism of Israel with antisemitism.
I dont know about the rights of those questioning the holocaust, but freedom of speech isnt limited to them. Its a bigger issue then just holocaust questioners.
There are a number of countries that have laws against holocaust denial.

Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad's UN address

He may be a wise and popular leader but he is a bad aristocrat. When you want to prove your point of view to others, you need to speak their language. By criticizing Western power in UN, he has shown its immaturity as a diplomat. One cannot be too straightforward when speaking on the international forum like UN where statesmen from all over the world meet and often have diverse state of mind and opinions on various global affairs. Thinking that your idea or assessment is right and judicious impolitic. Mr. Ahmadinejad's, even lacks the backing of most of the OIC members. By doing what he did in UN has strengthen US position to isolate Iran. In international affair one needs to be a shrewd cavalier with sophisticated diplomatic qualities and eloquence.
