Re: Countries walk out of Ahmadinejad’s UN address
Criticism of Israel is not anti-semitic. Denial of holocaust is - and if Ahmedinajad denied the holocause, he is anti-semitic. It is my understanding he did deny the holocaust.
I did read the link you sent - I found absolutely nothing about countries having laws against holocaust denial in that link. It just talks about the steps people are taking to combat the lies propogated by the deniers - who appears to be neo-Nazis.

So if that is the sole reason for the walk-out then many others have many more reasons like that... i may deny the holocaust and you may deny many other things i believe in does that mean a walk out is justified on that basis???
I get offended when christian call Jesus (AS) Son of Allah, this actually is insult to Allah all Mighty, should i have walk out when any Christian starts his speech?
I get offended when Western countries close their eyes when thousands are being killed or held hostage in Gaza, should i walk out when those western countries have their speech???
If being anti-Semitic or something of that kind is good enough for walking out then other reasons are good enough as well...

Hanibal, you raise excellent points. I actually was not addressing the walk out - I donot care too much for such choreographed stunts. I was just making a point that Ahmedinejad is not just anti-Israel, but also anti semitic. Hence in that respect, he is not a very good person.

He didnt say he denies, he said he has a right question it. Big difference between those who deny and those who champion the right to question historical narratives. It is a matter of free speech. West cannot champion.free speech, while at the same time stifling it.You didnt read the link? If u dont believe me google laws against holocaust denial. The bottom line is freedom of speech for all or for none.Ahmadenijad can be accused of many things, but bigot, I dont think so. I think he pulls these stunts partly as protest, and partly as media stunt. Essentialy, the protest is against Israel and supporters. Israel justifies its existance by the narrative of the holocaust. Questioning that narrative is an indirect swipe at the basis of Israel itself. But is he intentionally attacking Jewish people? No I dont think so. He is insensative not hateful.

OK - I thought he denied the holocaust.
I said "I did read the link".(How did you jump to the opposite conclusion :)) But I did not find anything in that link about laws against holocaust denial.
No reason to disbelieve you - I was just stating the link you sent did not have anything abt laws against denial. Also, I was not aware of such laws.
