I don't think Lexus, Infinity or Acura are actually MADE in the US. Some models may be. But these are Japanese cars, through and through. They badge them differently to separate them from Toyota, Honda etc that are deemed cheaper cars in the US market.
^^ They are made in USA. They were actually intended for the west. Infiniti & lexus found themselves under gr8 scrutiny back in clintons administration when they slapped 100% duty. This was outrageous, becoz Lexus & Infiniti really destroyed da American luxury manufacturers. I 1nce remember jeremy clarkson's remark...who would see a lexus parked outside GM motors...?
Lexus & Infiniti have pretty much found themselves a market here in da gulf too. They are at par wid Mercedes & BMW. I mean a full options S500 for the normal comapny executive would cost u around 325000 dhs...approx $$$88800. A lexus with da same options costs 280000 dirhams approx $76000
I thought all Lexus, Infiniti & Acura models were built in Japan 100%. Mal1k are you sure?

Xactly faisal, but they r produced in US. e.g Toyota camry is produced in Australia & US. Hino - da famous bus makers r from Japan, yet da hino that r Xported here in UAE r from Pakistan...a local rich hotshot has major shares in Chrsyler of Pakistan & Hino Pak industries.
I didn't have time to go to all 3 automaker's website. But looking at Lexus...last year they opened a manufacturing plant in Ontario, Canada. But they only make RX there. Rest of the Lexus model's are all made in Japan.
Of course, almost all "Toyota" models have been produced in US for quite some time now.
I know a few models here and there are made in North America/Mexico (Toyota Corolla was/is built in the plant in Fremont California, along with Chevrolet Prism) - but I think bulk of manufacture of all Lexus, Acura and Infinity is done in Japan.
OK, I wasnt sure about Acura, therefore I didnt comment on it. Acura is very much produced in Tochigi Japan...!
As for Lexus & Infiniti, they r both produced in US & Japan.
Verified & checked.

Just called Lexus's main number in US. As I previously stated - they confirmed that all their cars are made and assembled in Japan, except for RX that are assembled in Ontario, Canada.
Here's thier number: 1-800-255-3987 prompt #4 :~p
Another one
Seat - German engineering, built in spain
Why have the following NOT been mentioned yet:
Tata
Hindustan Motors
Padmini
Also, what I find very neat to see are old cars of our time (70's models) still being produced TODAY in third world countries!
I have often thought of importoing them back to the UK and selling them as classics.
A bit like the Beetle (VW BUG) which was being imported from Mexico after production ceased in Germany in 1977.
But alas, I have beenbeaten at the post yet again. i have seen a fair few Ambassador cars (Indian) on the streets of London of late!!
No one Mentioned a superpower with ultra SUper car ;)
Russia
LADA ;)
by having 37% of dc shares in mitsubishi does not make it a german company. it is a japanese company (not to mention that right now it seriously needs help). dc had plans to buy it and for that purpose smart ceo klenkner (sp??) paid the japs a couple of visits but it didn't work out. its not as easy as taking over the chrysler. schrempp is a hungry sob whose greed for globalization just doesn't stop.
also back in the late 80's it was 'made to look' (for the employees on both the sides and for the ppl) that it was a merger of equals: btw
d-benz and chrysler corporation: which was to some extent. however it didn't take long for the germans to take over the chrysler.
if we take a dive into the time when it happened: then chrysler ceo(bob lutz) agreed to serve as a ceo of dc for four yrs. and then step down. according to him having two ceo's was not practical. this according to the chrysler ppl was a big mistake. anywaz its a very long...complicated..messed up... but nevertheless an interesting story....
the reason why dc is struggling right now sort of is not really because of the merger but because the japenese have given its competitor's a very tough time. this has forced them to reduce costs by compromising on quality. now everybody wants to go global. only time will tell who will win this race of globalization.

that was not the issue. the question really was(which U had asked) why weren't the so called cars being manufactured in india were not mentioned?
Suckiness is not a big deal. Many think Ford and Dodge cars also suck, but thats a personal opinion. Some really cool cars are "assembled" in Pakistan (all those Civics, Corollas, Suzukis etc) and this being done since mid-80's, so not sure whats the big hooplah about. So Indians design their own cars, sometimes. Great. More power to you. But aren't Indians lately also going into the "assembly" route? So there is nothing wrong with that, either. You let someone else do all the R&D.
Not sure who did the core R&D for Hindustani and Ambassador earlier.

Its a pity you cant even see sarcasm even when its hitting you in your face!!!!
Secondly I did not ask that question, someone else did, and when you came up with a Smartass reply, I could not resist the reply, and had to wake you up from your deep slumber.
I dont know what country you reside in, but in the middle east, uk, eastern europe, you will find quite a few Indian cars on the roads.
Now my dear friend without Flattery or Sarcasm, can you say the same about Pakistani Automobiles, and if not can you please educate me, as to why not???
