Wasism Akram is closing to a new milestone. The first ever person in cricket history to reach the figure of 500 one-day wickets! He is close to that figure in his One-day career , but no one else has reached the figure in one-days yet so he will be the first player in One-day history to have a 500 when he gets there .

Let’s count his wickets from now on. It’s 485 now. So only 15 to go.

Anybody thinks he will get there during the Zimbabwe tour?

Or maybe the World Cup?

Hopefully he will do it during the Zimbabwe/SA ODI matches. It will be a great and befitting honour for such a great bowler. :k:

I agree.

We want pleasure before World Cup

yep that we will get insha'allah

He will definatley get it during the South Africa series, if it wasn't for the politics, he may have already gotten to 500 wickets in one days and test.
But don't worry, tour of South Africa will definetly get him there without any doubts.

ditto :k:

actually he deserves!

He is the greatest of them all, quite probably the finest pace bowler EVER.

I don’t why but the jealous gora media always identifies him as the greatest left arm bowler ever  :mad2:

It makes me so furious, he is the greatest fast bowler period!

Re: Countdown to Wasim’s 500

 is that u for real? abhi zinda ho? :stuck_out_tongue:

Wasim the " The great YODA" of fast bowling...records mean nothing to his greatness..he is the best bowler of all time...

Great bowling by Wasim in the 1st One-day against South Africa. He got 3 wickets for just 19 runs! His figures were 10-1-19-3.

So now he is at 488. Only 12 to go.

Will he get there during this series? :)

Waqar Younis also reached his 400 One-day wickets during this match.

:)

Paki rulz everywhere...

If he will play all the matches... I think he mite get it.!

Congralutions on Waqar Younis to get his 400th wicket...

and yes *Wasim Akram is the greatest bowler the world has ever seen! Even Bradman agrees with it! *
I wish he can play after world cup too!

keep it up wasim bhai:k:

Waseem is the greatest!! What amazes me is his wicket taking ability even with Diabetes and his age. Unlike Waqar and Shoaib, this gem of a bowler doesn’t get spanked all over the park. His economy rate, his wickets, his ability to move the balls both of the seam and in the air is just amazing. He is a true icon. A national Hero. I salute you Waseem. You are the greatest.

The latest Time magazine carries the front page picture of Waseem talking about his fight with diabetes

WOW!
he is the on the cover of TIME magazine. Isn't that an American publication.

^ i'm gonna run down to the library tommorow and read it :D

Top bowlers..saq is close still!

look at waqars numbers better than wasims!! loll…still talking trash about waqar!

wasim played 96 more matches and he is up by 88 wickets ..big deal? im sure if at present waqar plays 96 more he would for sure beat his record…and look at the average runs to!! difference of .16? lol i stilll go with waqar!

Wasim Akram (Pak) 488 at 23.65 (348 matches)
Waqar Younis (Pak) 400 at 23.81 (252)
A Kumble (Ind) 300 at 29.84 (235)
M Muralitharan (SL) 297 at 23.28 (200)
SK Warne (Aus) 285 25.77 (189)

No..its Asian edition.

At current moment Wasim is playing superb cricket.
I still remember when England toured Pakistan in 2001 and how Wasim was being thrashed by people here Gupshup.
How bad he is and he is past it, he needs to retire.
And I also remember how people praised Waqar Younis at the same time when he thrashed the South Africa one day team in the Sharjah Final.
Things change quickily.

I think Waqar is going through a phase, just like how Wasim went in the past couple years and now he is back to his normal. Waqar needs to concentrate on his bowling and less on external affairs.

His speed is not his weapon like it was decade ago, he needs to do what Wasim is currently doing, have more variety, instead of keeping line & length, try to attack the batsman.
