So, there were a girl & guy who were madly in love with each other. Both of them are our family friends, and both of them are good friends of mine. So, they both wanted to get married to each other, and the guy sent over his parents with proposal to her parents but her parents didn’t agree as they had done her rishta with her cousin, and so, she got married to her cousin. The guy was bit upset about it.But they both took it very lightly, and now she is married to her cousin, and she is happy too, mashaAllah, and the guy is preparing to get engaged with his cousin. Now, what really makes me wonder is that, was there love between them at all?I mean, they both should have been little bit upset over losing each other but they both were all okay about that.Is it that easy to move on, and there is nothing as such called love in today’s world?Or there are many good people in this world that we easily fall in love with another person?

Re: Could it even be called love?
Well times have changed and Money and Material have come to dominate the mind-set...
Gone are the days when you could make and take a life and a mere glance...
True love still exists, hell a lot of things still go on UTR but the reality is that human beings of the 21st Century are perhaps better equiped and able to "move on" than at any other time in History.
What with the majority of restrictions allready taken down and even teens these days having a better grasp of things than most adults it's innevitable that people will be able to glide through the social sea's.... it's only those at the fringes of society that are still a bit cooped up and to be fair to em thier doin well... Hang in thier folks.

Well, what do you want them to do? Mope around for their rest of their lives and walk in the streets like majnu?

I disagree. Millions if not billions of humans have gone through our world, and not everyone was walking the streets like a mad man after love. Human psyche hasn't changed since the inception of the human race.

What? That doesn't even make any sense! Are you implying that those that are living outside of your so called materialistic world are better in love and being in love?
Hang in thier folks.

Re: Could it even be called love?
Love exists but people have become more practical and matured these days. No one becomes majno these days. They try to make things work. But if things don't seem to work out the way as desired, they accept it as the decision of fate and move on. Girls and guys still do fight with their parents to marry the person of their choice. Some are more determined to marry the person of their choice, some are less determined. Some succeed in marrying according to their choice and some don't. We cannot generalise just by looking at one case. I personally know many cases where girls and guys did put up a fight and married according to their choice. In the case mentioned by OP, it seems that they were infatuated with each other and were not really keen on being together. Or it may be that they did not want to face the tough times and thus easily accepted what their parents had decided for them.
Re: Could it even be called love?
well they were mature i guess?
if the guy had slit his wrist and the girl had run away with the guy ,you guys wud have called them utter stupid.
They accepted what was coming their way and made most out of it.Its not hard to be in love anyways

Whoooaaaa chill your beans... or Murgi?
I wasn't saying either world view is right theres nothing wrong with insane love sick people so long as they keep thier sickness to themselves, neither is there anything seriously wrong with being materialistic so long as you aint contributing to a road of bones and blood in the mud...
But as you've probably figured now my utterly random rant was merely a outsiders view on the topic... I mean c'mon I dont come here too often and you can understand why after this...
Forget love tryin to stay sane and alive these days is becoming a major battle for a lot of people...

Nothing is bothering me! What makes me wonder is that, what happened to that so-called love!!
Re: Could it even be called love?
it’s always the cousins, isn’t it ![]()
seriously, we can’t really assess how in love they were
lol @ the thread.
Re: Could it even be called love?
They still love each other now as Muslim brother and sister, previously it was a love which is caused by attraction of opposites genders which in some cases lasts forever and in some cases is short lived.
Have you never heard of breakups ? Some couples stay in love for ages and one fine morning they breakup for one reason or the other.
This breakup was caused by their realization that their family bonds were tighter and had priority over their romantic bond.
Re: Could it even be called love?
This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read... seriously. This theory of making your lover a brother or sister is mindboggling!

Ridiculous statement ? Seriously ? Are you Muslims ? If not not then is something differernt but to me all Muslims are joined together with Hablillah/rope of Allah if they do not have any kind of relationship with each other. That way they are Muslims brothers and sisters to each other. Look at the big picture to understand my post. :@:
Re: Could it even be called love?
Just cuz they've moved on doesn't mean they weren't in love in the first place!
