Reading a letter from India colonel.. He should go and figure out solutions in troubled regions of India... and see what Indian Army have achieved there after years of operation....

Whole Indian Army was fighting 10 brave goondas in Mumbai Terror attacks and they are giving advice to the brave Pak Fauj..

ouch! this letter is a must read for all members of Pakistani military. The colonel makes a very good point about why when lawyers and public of Pakistan can pull off what they did a few weeks ago, why the mighty army cannot do a simple thing as jamming a FM station broadcasting at a fixed frequency at a fixed time.
Mysterious & Saroo - if you really didn't bother reading the letter, I recommend you do. Yes it is a bit insulting to the ego but you'll find it contains worthwhile advise

The letter makes some great points and in no way ridicules the Pakistani Army. I am surprised that Pakistani posters are reacting so defensively to this.

You are wondering why we react defensively to comments from an institution, which has fought 3 wars with us, sends spies to Pakistan to carry out dastardly deeds and blames us for everything under the sun regardless of the plausibility?
I guess you wouldn't react defensively if a Pakistan Military Colonel told you what you should do regarding all the disenfrancished people in India?

apart from the letter, India faced and still faces the same problem in the north eastern states, but has done well by economical and social development of the region even though there is militancy people do not support it, today the militancy is purely political, 62 years since independence Pakistan has kept the people in the western side disenfranchised and the coming of significant number of Taliban and Al Queda into Pakistan's west after the war on Taliban in Afghanistan has worsened the situation for Pakistan, what Pakistan army has to recognize is people have more faith in language than in religion.

Its a most intriguing situation. The taliban will openly defend Pakistan when it comes to an external threat. But internally they will kill to get their way.
As for the western side. Its a mixture of the eastern side not doing enough and the leaders of the communities in Balochistan and FATA doing nothing to help their people.

The fact that India has fought 3 wars with Pakistan has led the Indian Col. to believe that the Pakistani army is professional and brave. That is the reason he is chiding Kiyani for meekly surrendering to the Taliban. To me it is less of an Indian telling a Pakistani, and more of a soldier telling another soldier.
End of the day, its your country. You can choose not to listen to what an outsider says even though it is true, just because he happens to be an Indian.
Classic case of 'ostrich' syndrome :p

The Colonel is correct on many points. But I think he is forgetting that Pakistan Army has evolved since 1971. The ISI factor is a big unknown for everyone. Who knows whats cooking underneath.

Did you even read the letter. The colonel has made very valid points which needs to be understood and action taken.
Surrender of the Pakistani army to the Taliban is a big head ache to India. There is an inherent danger that Taliban takes over Pakistan in a few years. Then the ramifications of such a situation is not hard to imagine. Hence it is in India's interests that the Taliban is kept at bay.

No that means he is not a friend. It means he comes from an institution that sees Pakistan as the enemy. It has built is army to deal with Pakistan and he has served in that army. His views are biased, judgemental and not seen with the benefit of Pakistan at heart.
More importantly he does not know everything about the issue, he speaks like an outsider to a complicated matter.
Kinda like a doctor commencing an operation with out checking the patients history or medical background.
