Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting

Thanks guys !! My Reception was in LeDome in Oakville .. Its a really nice hall - not at all like other convention style halls. I wanted a close cozy environment and it was perfect for that !

Jewel - i tried replying to ur pm but was encountering some probs so I'll just answer your question here if its alrite ! My Reception was at Ledome in Oakville and my mehndi was in Candles Banquet Hall in Mississauga. My decorator was the in-house decorator for Candles - Shaheen and her company is called Exquisite Events. She is simply wonderful !! VERY accomodating and bursting with ideas and creativity.

^^ Thanks for the info Meenz...u cant PM me back because u have less than 25 posts!
Where did u get the materials for ur CPs? Btw isn't Le Dome a non-desi hall...did u have non-desi food?

Everything sounds lovely. Any chance of your having pictures to share?

I got the vases from ikea for like 1.99 - so I snatched them right up 9 months before the wedding and even before I knew what I was making - because it was a really good deal ! The last time I went, the vases were still there. I went to Micheals, Bouclair, and some Dollar Stores and got the sticks, some pussy willows and different stuff I thought would look good etc. The red pebbles I got from a fish store on Dundas and they have a bunch of colours for aquarium rocks.

Le Dome is a non-desi hall, but we got food catered from elsewhere, but the hall was really accomodating to that .

Meenz, if you dont mind me asking.. how much did it end up costing PER PERSON (including hall fees and catering) when you did youre reception at LeDome?

Thanks

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting

for those of you who may be interested in making a flotating candle centerpiece obvioulsy which would be in a bowl you can buy liquid potpourri (usually found near scented candle section in walmart or any other craft store) and add a hint of the selected sent into the bowl with water and have a really nice smelling hall for the event but make sure u dont add too much b/c if added too much the scent can become extremely strong and become irratating to your guests...this is my personal creation i did this for one of my clients mehndi and it came out really nice it made the whole hall smell fresh...

hint: for those ppl who would not like to spend $ on real flower petals get fake petals use liquid potpourri soak the fake petal in the bowl of potpourri with a candle(s) makes ur guests think they are real petals bc of the scent.

Also, if some one is thinking or another unique ideal use dry potpourri in vases and/or bolwls dipped in water and you wont even need flowere petals since potpourri is dry flowers. however, keep in mind that the scent of dry potpourri is really strong you should not use excessive amount.

As accurately as I can remember, I avg'd out to about $30/head to $35 I believe.

Good job on the CPs...turned out VERY nice! Btw where did u get ur catering done from? There's not that many great paki restaurants that I would trust for my wedding catering!

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting

Meenz the decor looks great for both days!

I got my catering from Maple (although I would recommend Candles as Maple ppl were VERY unprofessional and very difficult to work with even on the day of the wedding !!) and we got Afghani food which was very goood also !

Thanks naqsa !

I have already spent way too much than I had initially planned to spend on things for the wedding. Have covered everything except the centerpieces & favors. For my centerpieces I dun wanna spend too much now. My shadi theme is gonna be around pink & red colors. I was thinking about the whole filling glass bowls not vases with baby pink colored water & then putting in some red petals as well as a floating candle & then just scattering some dark pink petals around the table in the middle. Only problem is that just seems too common now.

Also I bought these really beautiful heard shaped candle holders in dark red color. Bought them from Walgreens last year at valentines time. Actually scanned 3 Walgreens in my area & bought all that I could get my hands on. (they were supposed to be for my mehndi for the little girls) I m thinking may be I can do something with them, buy more if I can find any & make a flower like shape by putting three holders together & placing some votive candles around it. Again everything in different shades of red & pink. My table clothes’ lining might be red or pink too. Dun wanna over do everything either.

Below are the kind of examples Mano posted already.

So what do you guys think?

I am gonna get proper glass votive candle holders. Will place either 3 or 5 around the centerpiece. Will also pour liquid potpourri so it smells nice like rose flowers.
Thinking about having dim lights at the table & highlighting the entrance, stage, guest book table & the buffet & cake tables.

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting

pretty! how about sprinkling additional rose petals around the outside of the bowl too and placing the votive holders amongst them to add some more oomph? try to find red votive holders, or use clear votive holders and red candles.

Yes I have planned on sprinkling rose petals but it all depends on the over lays I am getting. I am getting square shaped over lays on ivory table covers. They are going to be most probably pink & they are somewhat fancy. I don't wanna over do it. But I def. plan to the flower petals on cake table & guest table for now.
The votive holders are going to be red glass & maybe maybe clear glass ones. I still have to experiment with that & see what looks better.

SGC do you think these centerpieces are too typical? So far I have tried to be original in everything but I don't wanna spend that much on centerpieces. Max. $10. Honest opinion would be greatly appreciated :)
