Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
well they’re a bit typical but that doesn’t mean they’re not beautiful
if you want to vary things, why not use the same bowl but instead of rose petals floating on top, wrap two or three red or maroon calla lilies and lily grass around the inside of the bowl and then fill it with water, and float a candle on top? that also looks very pretty. something like this… http://www.stem-florists.co.uk/Large%20Corporate%20Photos/Calla%20lily%20goldfish%20bowl.JPG
you don’t even need the water if you don’t want to.
or you can place a tall narrow candle holder (same height as the bowl) in the centre of the bowl with the wrapped calla lilies, and put a smaller votive inside the candle holder so there’s no danger of the flowers catching fire. the candle holder could be clear or red glass and that would look lovely too.
try to buy your flowers wholesale, it will save you money! Google Search
Oh I like the second idea a lot actually. Thank you my favorite person on GS :)
Also thanks for posting the link for florists. I am gonna go get back to some more mixing & matching.

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
stage+centerpeices+aisle cost me around 7500 and lighting cost me around 2-3k and the hall cost 17k... i think that's it for decor :)
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
2 questions:
Those who had lighting at their events, how much did you pay for those?
How much did the centerpieces average out to be?
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
^^^^^I had lighting at the mehndi (so that there was a fuschia glow on the walls)--as for the pricing I dont remember the exact cost because it was a package for mehndi and wedding and photography and centerpieces and chair covers.....got it all done by one person......
depends on the centerpiece and the time of year. In December, all red flower prices go up (carnations, roses--u name it). ahhhh need to go back into my diary and find the exact prices cuz I wrote them down. If you get an independent florist--centerpieces can be $30 for a tight bunch of roses in a square vase-------$90 for a tall vase with lilies, a couple of orchids etc.
If done by a professional company the prices start at $70 and the sky is the limit. Everyone's prices were differnt so I had to go to so many differnt shops until I found a decent one:)
If you want a tropical arrangement, orchids tend to be cheapest in the summer ($3 for one orchid).
two examples of doing lovely candle centerpieces… i like how they’ve used a lot of rose petals to make it seem more substantial. i could also see this working with mini dendrobium orchids scattered around or tucked in here and there in a contrasting colour like in the picture below.

i think what i mainly love is grouping vases together to make a larger arrangement instead of a single one in the middle of the table…
here are two more that i think are DIY-friendly-

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
Anyone has pictures of very tall CP's? That's what I am looking for, even though about a year ago I actually bought vases from Ikea, I dont want to use them, I want the very tall, skinny vases (dont know the correct name). I want to put whites, ivories, and touches of green in each vase. (Any idea of which flowers) Thats the colors for my wedding, since my dress is maroon, silver and bronze.
So I want my decor to be in neutral colors, however I will still incorporate totouches of maroon in the decor. Any Ideas in how i should do this? I was thinking maybe having a deep red/maroonish flower petals around the vase, not a few, but a lot of petals and than some of the candles that I will be having all around the reception.
Do you think its a good idea to have A LOT of candles? I love the feel of having lots of candles, all different sizes and drapes all along the walls. I want the mood to be relaxed, romantic, and cozy!

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
^so pretty. i love pink in almost any shade.
for fresh flowers, check out www.samsclub.com They’ve got the best prices I could find. Asiatic/Oriental lillies are a great deal because you get 3-5 large blooms per stem. I love clustered roses, but that gets expensive. Hydrangeas are a good option also because you can have just one flower in a vase since it’s a huge flower. I’m going to be making my sisters centerpieces, insha’Allah and will be ordering flowers from there.
