shay..does the 7.50 include labor? chairs do add an elegant touch to the setup...i too got a good deal..well at least thats what i thought....but when you add the labor..and the extra costs...it does add up...we had arranged for 150 guests...per chair ended up close to $8.50 with labor/setup...if you tell the hotel 300 guests..they will set up the ballroom for an extra 10%...which means you will be responsible for getting those extra chairs as well.....
go with one vendor..someone who will do your napkins, cutlery etc...as well as linen and chairs...
then you do a cost breakdown...ask around and have your vendor match the lowest price..
the same people should be responsible for the stage..drapes...the lights.. ..red carpet aisle decor..etc..

are you getting a florist? your florist takes care of ONLY flowers...your florist will collaborate with the people responsible for the stage..

rent the vases...i dont think you ll have the time to haul the vase back to your place...and store them...put up an add on ebay...then spend time/money on packaging/mailing.... :)

I have to comment - this particular thread is so informative and frankly so enlightening - I never even thought about all these details…I have to admit I feel very stressed and overwhelmed though because it seems like there is so much to do and so many little decisions to make… :frusty:

I agree.. it is nerve-racking and stressful getting your decor etc done cuz I was SUPER picky about making sure it was unique and not played out and it had my "touch". But at the same time, I don't think I would ever want to have someone else do this all for me ! I enjoyed every bit of the stress and the long nights cutting out tags, wrapping my giveaways, making my centerpieces. After all it's my wedding and when I walk into that hall I want to look at it all and see that it all paid off!! And it helps that my mother-in-law can't stop telling people that I did it all when people still compliment her on the wedding ;)

^ that's great meenz..it sounds as though everything worked out well :) How long before the wedding did you start your preps? Where do you even start?!! Did you begin by picking a color scheme for each event and then finding decor items accordingly? or did you just go to different vendors and went with what you preferred?

All this info is so useful... I now have a wealth of information and can make so many good choices based on the good and honest advice of others. You guys are all so good. Keep up the good work.

i planned out everything a year in advance…the location, photographer/videographer, guest list, and food.
then you go for the theme, color palette, and decor designs.
Mine was classic ivory and gold…(although i started off with tonss of colors…but decided not to have a color splash …in the pictures…it ends up looking sloppy..imo)

My vendors were
Chicago & Dallas Party Rental, Event Planning, Wedding Flowers, Tents ------Dallas
they did my drapes for the stage area, furniture, carpet, chiavari chairs, lights,linen,napkins, entrance red carpet etc..

My venue was the Marriott in Irving, Texas. (they didnt provide the staging, or the chairs)

Food was by Haveli Restaurant (Irving, TX)
my mother oversaw the details of the menu and worked with the chef on some of the dishes that need a more personal kashmiri touch. :slight_smile:

I did my flowers…got them from world trade center in dallas…i chose ivory roses, orchids, hydrangeas, and calla lilies…I got a great deal as i was buying in bulk, the price cut usually starts for an order of >3000 roses or a combination of flowers.

The hotel provided the upgraded stemware, silverware, and dinnerware..

For the Mehndi…I ordered all the fresh flowers from Hawaii…tuberoses,roses, and loose orchids…again, the price cut for me was an order of >3000 loose flowers.

also remember the extra costs for the following..

shipping charges on virtually everthing!
labor
rental insurance etc.
breakdown crew after midnight (people who come to pick up all the stuff for the rental companies)
TAX (on EVERYTHING) bought or rented!
gratuity...(tips for the waiting staff at the hotel, and your caterers)

for us, since our reception ended at 1 am saturday, M&M Special Events charged extra money in addition to the labor for clean up crew...only because the hotel didnt allow us to keep the stuff overnight...we had to get everything out after the function ended.

My Hall .. The hall had a feature where you can turn off all the lights/chandeliers and the dome in the middle lights up like stars in the sky .. reallllyyyy nice !
The stage ..

This is what I made for my centrepieces .. i avg’d out at around $4 for each centrepiece. Not all 40 were alike so it was pretty cool. Every table had a different one done by each one of my cousins !

Oh these r so cute.

I am not sure if this would be the exact cost of my stage decoration. But for what I want I have been quoted $ 800 for mehndi stage with a swing. $2100 for the shadi stage & 1800 for the Walema stage.

meenz, was this at Bella Banquet in King City?? i went to an aqeeqa there last summer but wow, your decor looks so lovely! looks like a different place altogether.
