Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
hey have any canadians here on gupshup ever ordered flowers from abroad?? How does it work? how many days before should the flowers arrive? did you have to pay cdn customs? how much did you save (percentage wise) on the cost of flowers by ordering from abroad??
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
Im in the US so i havent purchased any flowers from abroad but purchasing flowers from abroad is almost the same as purchasing from these wholesale websites listed above. The florists in your local neighborhood purchase all flowers from abroad due to the unstable weather here. The florists just charge their fees for providing you with the flowers and make a huge profit.
The flowers should arrive at least 2-4 days before the wedding day. NO more than 4 days before and no later than 2 days before the wedding. Also, as soon as you receive flowers they need to be maintained right away so they dont die or look dry before the big day.
If anyone does order flowers and need assistance in knowing how to take proper care of them just ask and ill be more than glad to help!

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
How about Chivari chairs? I heard they are expensive to rent :(
Also, I know that buying centerpiece vases would be cheaper but what do you do with 20-30 vases after the wedding is over?
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
well i know the chairs are a bit expensive to rent i think they are like 150$ or something like that to rent for 1 day it also depends on wut type of chairs ure renting since they have various options but spending a few hundred $ doesnt really matter since ure wedding xpenses are like in the thousand $ range.
Well if you buy the vases the centerperices can be distributed towards the end of the night and your guests can take them home or you can make sure none of the guests take them and save them for a sibling's/cousins/friends wedding or u can just sell them on ebay or on this site for future brides to be!!
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
150 for one chair? really?
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
hmm good question i know it was 150 but wasnt sure if it was one chair or the set. i'll see if i can find out and will let u know
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
just found out the chairs are 150 per set thats the maximum amount you can spend on chair-- prices start from 50$ + and the maximum is 150$ hope this helps!!
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
^Thanks so much! Just found a site that charges $8 for rent per chair. Too bad they are in Texas :( How many are there in the set which costs 150?
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
well it depends on where you live--why dont u search the web or open ur local yellow pages and look for a party supply rental place and call to see who rents them cheaper.
the 150$ i was talking about was bride and groom chairs but i think u can easily find chairs for $8 (per chair) maybe even less depending on where you live btw where do u live?

Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
^Thanks!
The cheapest I have found is for 7.50. I love Chivaris and the elegant look they give but the cost (for atleast 300 guests) is gonna be well over 2k. I am wondering if that’s really worth it ![]()
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
^^ well if u get the reg. chairs thn u will need chairs covers (which are 2.50 at least) n also the sash that goes around the chair (another 1.5 at least)
so they will be cheaper thn 7 but still at least 5 dollars
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
cant the hall u have the event reserved arrange something for u for discount price since they know lots of party suppliers? have you spoken to them about providing you the Chaviris chair some halls already have them but dont provide themt to u unless you request them. If the hall can provide them to you u may not even have to rent them or spend any of ur own $
Re: Cost of decor- stage/ aisle/ centerpieces/ lighting
chiavari’s are rented in toronto for $10 per chair. it does add up, i agree, but they look so elegant! i almost rented chiavari’s for my wedding but since it was outdoors, they weren’t very stable on the soft grass. i ended up going with white wooden folding chairs which worked very well too.
shays, i know someone who got married at the marriot in new jersey and i think the chiavari’s were part of the package they got from the venue. have you spoken to your venue about any such options?
if not, contact vendors who specialise in event decor and supplying it to event planners and designers-- they’ll provide everything from tableware to chairs to decor and really good quality, classy stuff. if you get everything from one place, you can negotiate with them on price.
