Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

I dunno if this has been discussed before, so apologies in advance.

Has anyone here ever had cosmetic/plastic surgery? If so, did it change your life… and how?

Would anyone here consider getting it done in the future? Hypothetically speaking, money is no object… what would you get done?

I know an auntie who gets botox shots. She looks pretty good… not fake or anything.

I dunno if I would once im old and stuff. It’s hard to say… but most probably not.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

My sis had breast implants. She was very small-sized and also saggy after having fed her son. She was always very self concious about it so she saved her money and went for it. She looks beautiful! And she's much more confident and outgoing. I also know a couple of gals from when I was working - two who had nose jobs and one who had liposuction. The nose job gals looked great. The lipo gal looked great for a while but gained weight back so it was a total waste.

I thought I'd like to have a tummy tuck, mine is a total mess. But once I saw the horrible scar it causes I changed my mind.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

no offence but i m just wondering y cant u just excercise and eat healthy 2 get rid of any unwanted weight?!?.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

well if money was no object..then i would have the little pouch of stomach removed..and thats it..!

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

To change my features, nope.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

its less of a weight thing than what the abdomen looks like after giving multiple births. one can be skinny but have still have some sagging, loose skin etc.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

i had a nose job, it was a non traditional approach for a nose job. I had a little bit of a bump on the nose towards the top. i think its called an overprojected nose

now i am extremely photosensitive so wore wraparound shatterpoof shades when i played as a goalie for my uni team. during corner practices, i misjudged the angle and speed of teh ball and did nto get to it right, it slipped by my hands and slammed in my face shattering my nose right at the spot where the shades rested on the nose, which happened to be where that bump in the nose bone was.

i had a straight nose after that, i had cousisn who asked me how i got the cosmetic surgery done and I told them we coudl do the same, i.e. i put shades on their face and start kicking the ball really hard at their faces, no one went for it though

i dunno f lasik is considered cosmetic, but i may get that done sometime.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

It also happens if u lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time, esp if it's through dieting but no exercise. gastric bypass patients have this as well, xcept they have loose skin every where

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

Its the sagging baggy stretch-marked skin thats my prob. I dont have extra weight but my tummy skin is just a mess. No amount of muscle will resolve that one :(

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

aww...i m surprised that there is no solution for it other than tummy tuck....hmm

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

i know someone who just had a tummy tuck and i would never, ever, ever consider having one after seeing what she's gone through- not like i was considering one before. it is extremely painful, recovery takes a long time, and for the first two weeks, she had tubes running from end to end of her tummy that stuck out in two bags, that were leaking fluid and blood out. she also had another one for urine. gross. just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt. no amount of vanity is worth that much pain, let me tell you.

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

wow, i changed my tune just after seeing the horrific scar it leaves...i hope your friend recovers and feels better soon.

I gave my sad, saggy, stretch-marked tummy a friendly little pat. Its mine, I earned it and I think I'll keep it thank-u-very-much!!

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

well one can gain weight
thats how I justify my beer belly

:D

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

Well i guess everyone wants to look good and feel good - so its ok for anyone to have a cosmetic surgery. What we think as a negative feature someone else probably likes it but the people suffering from complex because of the stuff they dont like about themselves might lead them into being/feeling conscious, sad/depressed and imperfect..to avoid all the trauma its better to fix what is causing the trouble and trauma.
But as a muslim its a sin and wrong because as Allah says one must be thankful on whatever Allah has given him/her and look at people who dont even have what they do..there are so many people who have unfortunately lost their body parts in accidents but still have to live with it and its like a test we have failed when we get all these surgeries.
All the surgeries might bring one temporary satisfaction but we all know the later results (M.J).

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

are the above statements true for all cosmetic surgeries?

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

Think you are mixing Plastic surgery and Cosmetic Surgery ... If I loose my ear in an accident or have some birth defects .. would'nt be ok to have plastic surgery done on me ...

and how can we tell that a cosmetic surgery brings in only temporary satisfaction.. a liposcution, or a tummy tuck or a simple nose job might bring in more confidence in a person

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

*^ i havent mixed up anything - i just said that there are so many people who dont even have a nose (like people who get severly hurt in accidents, women/men who are beaten up by their partners or anyone for that matter) but these people still have to live with it, there are people who have all the money and still cannot be cured. So this just shows that Allah can do anything rather then crying and complaining about it people are told to be thankful because they could have been (Allah reham karayy) from such people, then what would have they done? so no matter how one looks we are still privileged and Allah has said dont complain about things you lack be grateful/thankful for things you have. This is what i meant so hopefully you got it now.

Temporary satisfaction because all surgeries eventually lead to side effects, i am not saying that i have seen pictures of women who have had a surgery and yes they get satisfied and happy and the self confidence which they lackd and also look gorgeous but some women just get a habbit so if its not something like a nose job or tummy tuck they think they can get it again and and again and in the end they look really bad.
Probably you missed it i first did say it brings confidence in people and in the last i said temporary satisfaction because one might get all worked up and greedy to look even better and think of getting more surgeries (and i know some women who do that) which would end up making them look like micheal jackson.

The thread starter has written about both surgeries so i wrote my thoughts about the surgeries together.

And i didnt say all that to discourage anyone here who wants to go ahead with any kind of surger i just gave my two cents. Because i know two/three people who have had surgeries, some who want to go through the knives etc.
Oh and nose job isnt simple i tell you some people can also have the opposite results to what they want which makes them more depressed and conscious. but Allah na kare aaisa ho. I know someone who has had a N.J and i guess she needed it since all the kids in school teased her, after she did have one and felt happy about it other stuff followed like wanting another one some kids asking her if she got it or not which annoyed her etc..*

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

It depends some people are happy with one surgery and get on with their lives, they have confidence etc while some get greedy and want more and be it any surgery it can damage the skin and features as much as it can cure them/ make them better...
I read an article where a man had a very pretty wife and all the other men were carz for her as well but after she gave birth to a kid her husband divorced her why? because the kid was ugly (as the men put it) and he found out that his wife had gone through the knife many times and whom he married was a result of those surgeries...

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

I think that every one has the right to look pretty. It is a natural part of being a human being - we wanna look good because that makes us feel good inside as well. I think that you can't just say that getting an cosmetic operation somehow always has negative side effects because this differs from person to person. Of course you will find people who get addicted to surgery but again you find this in every sphere of life - some get addicted to money, food, music etc. But that does not mean that eating is a sin, right? Nor is making money or listening to music, right? You just need to strike the right balance - this goes for a lot in life.

I just think that we should be carefull with proclaiming something to be a sin, a gunnah because the whole concept of gunnah is more nuanced and complicated. Furthermore I personally believe that if a person gets a N.J. (just an example) does not make that person an ungrateful individual. God has given us life and we should "celebrate" this each and every day and if you are unhappy with your nose etc. you will be sad and not that willing to "celebrate". But once you get it done you might feel happier - there is nothing wrong with happiness, right?

Re: Cosmetic/plastic Surgery

do they? really?
